(James 5:14)
What would Jesus do about the current healthcare debate? A few months ago, President Obama held a conference call with "religious leaders," trying to illicit their support in his desire to socialize the healthcare industry. Obviously, I was not invited on this call, only those "religious leaders" who don't have the guts to hold him accountable for opposing God on every single social issue of our day. In reading the transcripts, it was almost laughable as he tried to make the case that Jesus would support his plan for the government to take over the healthcare industry, giving several Biblical quotes to support his claim. I'm sure Jesus would be all for this plan that will also include slaughtering innocent babies!
First, even satan quoted scripture when he tempted Jesus. Most who reject the Bible and faith in Christ can quote certain verses, usually out of context, to try and make their case when they speak to a Believer. It makes me sick that "religious leaders" let this man get away with such tactics. How about the passages that calls killing babies murder? Or the passages that call homosexuality a sin and an abomination to God? Or the passages that state marriage is between a man and a woman? Or the passages that speak about blessing Israel? It is the height of audacity for this man who lives his life in complete rebellion to God and His Word on every spiritual issue of our day to quote Scripture in hopes of fulfilling his political goals!
Let's deal with the argument President Obama and many are trying to make. They say that Jesus would support their efforts to socialize the healthcare industry since the Lord would want every person to have medical insurance. I have never head a more tortured use of our Lord than those who are making this case. Of course, it falls right into line with the church of 2009 being dominated by the religious left that has embraced a liberal theology, fueled by the seeker/purpose-driven/ emerging church marketing strategies that don't seek to bring converts to the faith into the church, only warm bodies. To do that they must abandon the absolutes of the Bible and focus on issues like world huger, AIDS in Africa, and other social issues like HEALTHCARE!
Did you know that it was in 1890 when the first "sickness coverage" was offered in the United States? It wasn't until the 1920s that the health insurance business became mainstream and it has continued to evolve over the years. The fact is, until the last 60 years when the government and private business took an active role in providing social services, it was the CHURCH where people went in their time of need. The church fed the hungry. The church cared for widows and orphans. The church cared for the homeless and downtrodden. The church reached out to the alcoholic and those in bondage. THE CHURCH CARED FOR THE SICK!!!
While the church is still involved in these social issues today, it now plays a very minor role. Instead of investing in the lives and eternal souls of men and providing a shining light of Christ's love to the world, the church now invests in property and buildings and entertaining people for an hour a week. Missing from the church today is much of the love and compassion for others and the bold preaching of the Gospel. That has been replaced with the anonymity found in the mega churches of today and watered down, feel-good, motivational messages designed not to offend anyone.
I love you and care about you so much. I can assure you that Jesus would NOT be entering the current debate about the government taking over the healthcare industry. He would pray for President Obama's salvation as I encourage everyone in the Liveprayer family to do each day. He would pray for the sick. But Jesus would not be entering into political debates between the government and private businesses over medical insurance. While Jesus did minister to the practical needs of people and encouraged His followers to do the same, it was their eternal souls He cared most about. The fact is, we will ALL die one day. To have access to the best medical treatment possible during this brief journey is wonderful, but it is our soul that will live on for eternity while our physical body returns to the dust it came from.
Would it be nice if everyone had health insurance? Certainly. However, all you have to do is look at other countries who have socialized the healthcare industry and it becomes apparent that while it sounds good in theory, to cover everyone, it is simply not practical. To cover the small percentage of people who currently don't have health insurance would mean the vast majority who do have coverage would not enjoy all of the benefits they currently have. It opens up the door to the government deciding who gets treatment, who doesn't, and ultimately who lives and who dies. While there may need to be some overhaul of the current system, having the government involved in the healthcare industry is clearly NOT the answer. Look at the mess Medicare and Medicaid are in today.
As followers of Christ we need to care about people. We need to pray for the sick and do all we can to help people in their time of need. However, to invoke the name of Jesus and try to make the case the Lord would support the government take-over of the healthcare industry is not only ridiculous, it is blasphemous. While Jesus would not enter into the healthcare debate, I can assure you without any hesitation he would be lambasting this current President for his support of killing babies, helping to further the radical homosexual agenda, the perversion of God's Holy Institution of Marriage, and siding with the enemies of Israel. This is a nation being led by the President in all-out rebellion to God and His Word. Instead of trying to force Jesus to follow him, President Obama should start following Jesus!
You all might like this.
Let’s see. First, He’d horsewhip Annunciata d’Alesandro Pelosi, and tear up the Bill and scatter the fragments all over her office, and tip over the furniture, with something to say about murdering babies and elderly people.
He would first heal the least of them and call most of them in Congress a vipers den.
“Instead of trying to force Jesus to follow him, President Obama should start following Jesus!”
This is worth repeating.
I don’t think Jesus was concerned with how government should treat people. He taught that individuals should lover their neighbors and should aid other individuals. He never said anything about seizing the property of some people to give it to other people.
But no as it is Written this generation is going to do things their way and have to learn the hard way.
But for those who love our Heavenly Father, He promised He would never forsake US or leave US IF.
He’d quote 2 Corinthians 9:6-7
He’d also condemn harshly any legalization or use of tax-payer funds for abortion.
And Obama said, "I will. Be taxed." And there was a Great Depression.
Have YOU accepted Barack H. Obama as your personal savior? (mmm, mmm, mmm) /sarc>
Cheers!
‘Let the United States destroy itself? That’s what seems to be happening.
God help us all.
The best pastors are those who are not busy critiquing the blind and lost who don’t know any better, but raising the standards for those who are saved and who know the truth.
If anything, this healthcare bill could be seen as a punishment to Christians for not doing more to care for the sick, to look out for each other, and to go out of our way to assist those in need. Unbelievers see so little of Christ in believers, many feel they have nothing left to have hope and faith in other than the government. How easy it is for us to fall and take our freedoms for granted. We’ve gotten so spoiled that we suddenly feel entitled to political freedom, all while the Gospel spreads like wildfire among believers amidst the gravest persecution in other countries.
Also, the pastor mentions that Christ would be critical of our policy towards Israel. Say what you want about eschatology and the end times: but the fact remains, Jews need the Gospel too and the current Israel rejects and hates the name of Jesus Christ. And frankly, that is all Christ is concerned about. He did not establish military policy, he established spiritual policy.
Israelis are no more “immune” from death and judgment from the one true GOD than Muslims or pagans are. There is only one name by which all men—both Jew and Gentile, can be saved and that is through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone. No geopolitical borders can guarantee your salvation and God is not a racist. Even Osama Bin Laden can be saved if he repents and places his trust in Christ. To think that you have to wait for certain secular circumstances to take place in order for Jews to be saved is satanic deception. Sure some hearts will stay hard, but I know of several formerly Jewish people who are now believers in Christ.
6For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. ~ Galatians 5:6
Didn’t He already say when He comes back He’s going to judge the nations?

Can you tell me why you say this?
Hi T minus 4, “rejects and hates the name of Jesus Christ” can manifest itself in different ways. The clearest definition would be: you do not believe in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, and you engage in and love the very things he was crucified for: namely, our sins. He was killed for our sins.
Hating him means you can outright ignore him and his death on the cross. (For example: If you are partying it up in Tel Aviv, chances are, you are finding your joy and satisfaction by conforming to pagan and Western values—not seeking happiness through Jesus Christ and his standards.)
OR you are putting your hope in false religion and in your own works rather than putting your hope in Christ. (For example: if you are an Orthodox Jew taking time off on the Sabbath in Jerusalem.) Jesus said very clearly the Old Testament Law cannot save anyone, no matter how devoutly you follow it.
Obviously, it is not merely Israelis that sin or follow false religions but billions of people all over the world! By the same token, there ARE Israelis and Jews who HAVE turned to CHrist for salvation and are now walking Christians, and are in God’s good graces. So it probably wasn’t smart for me to label and sum up a whole nation as being anti-Christian.
The main point I was trying to make is that Jesus is not a nationalist—he has a heart for people of ALL races and wants Christians “to make disciples of ALL nations.” All people are called to recognize the depths of their sin, turn from it, and surrender their lives to Christ for their joy and eternal salvation. :)
Ok. It was shocking the way you put it, but it’s a shocking truth. Jesus said “He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters” (Matt 12:30)
You can’t be lukewarm. If you are not praising His name, you are the same as cursing His name.
