Pray for our American Heroes

Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible be delivered; For I will contend with him who contends with you, and I will save your children. I will feed those who oppress you with their own flesh, and they shall be drunk with their own blood as with sweet wine. All flesh shall know that I, the Lord, am your Savior, And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob. (Is. 49:25-26)

Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit. (Ps. 147:5) His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor his delight in the legs of a man; the Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love. (Ps. 147:10, 11)

Father, we are here today because we fear and trust You. We are putting our hope in Your unfailing love. We come to You because we have faith that You are our only hope and that You love us and answer us when we call. We are so honored and delighted to be called Your children and servants who have Your ear.

We pray today for our warriors and put You in remembrance of Your promise that You contend with those who contend with us and save our children. These warriors are our nation’s children, and on behalf of them we are asking for Your mercy. Show them Your favor as You lead them in victory and protect and honor them. You are their Savior, their Redeemer and the Mighty One of Jacob. We intercessors place them safely in Your care and give You the glory for all You are doing and will do on their behalf.

We pray for those legislators who are making decisions on behalf of our beloved warriors. Give them wisdom and Your plans and purposes, Sir. We are asking for Your best for our military, for the places they serve and for our Nation. Let all decisions be free of selfish ambition, jealousy and greed.

We bless You this day and thank You for surely answering our prayers in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Dear God, who suffered
torment, agony and death upon the Cross
to free our souls from the chains of iniquity;
protect and defend our troops. Guide them in
the performance of their duties. Strengthen
them to endure hardship, danger and depri-
vation in Your service. Let their efforts free
the people of Iraq and Afghanistan from the
chains of terror and slavery, foster a lasting
peace in the region, and bring all to a greater
share in Your Mercy.
