Operation Gratitude is another one I gave to. They send things to the troops.

Do you have any reason to believe that the Heifer program is not actually delivering farm animals to needy families, as advertised?

No - not at all. They are well rated for not wasting too much money and they have been doing it since the 1940s. They have good rating from Forbes who rate charities based on the amount of funds that actually go to the end user. That said I know there are several other groups that do the same thing and I would rather not fund an organization that has become captivated with liberal ideas like stopping global warming and reigning in capitalism. There are over 2 million charitable organizations in the US alone.

I appreciate all of the Freepers who have replied although no one actually addressed my question which is do any of you have any experience with an organization that donates livestock to the third world. We are not just looking for another worthy cause. We donate lots of time and money to our own church and its local and worldwide charitable efforts. We work with a local battered women’s shelter and with our food bank. I donate lots of my time, money and company resources to the Boy Scouts. We support deployed soldiers and their families.  My kids donate shoe boxes through a friends church to Billy Grahams group. All great charities but does anyone know of a good livestock donation group?

The Jeff Chandler Clearinghouse is grateful to The Comedian Fund for its recent reinstatement as the official Comedian Fund online donation gateway. With a competitive discount rate of 23% plus five dollars per transaction fee, The Jeff Chandler Clearinghouse remains the service of choice for profit-conscious NPOs.

Thanks for the response. Wish I could answer your question, but I can’t!

The official website for the 700 Club charitable organizations is:

www.OB.org

Operation Blessing International

They help Americans and people all over the world.

I received their giving catalog this week. There are more than a dozen areas of giving to choose from, or one can choose to let them decide which fund needs the most help.

Your thread on giving today, has nudged me to write a check to Operation Blessing International to the Operation Smile fund. I hope others were similarly inspired.

I used to do the same — gave to Heifer — especially for teacher gifts. Instead of a candle or box of soap, my kids would give a note saying that a chicken or share of a goat had been given in honor of them. Teachers loved this and expressed their appreciation. Then Heifer went too far to the left for my comfort in giving them our $$$$.

For the last few years, we transferred our Christmas giving to Samaritan’s Purse. It’s the same kind of outreach, but Christian, without the political agenda. We highly recommend this organization.

This just in...

I hope everyone escaped OK. If anyone wants to contribute to helping the survivors or helping the Jeff Chandler Clearinghouse to rebuild, donations are being accepted by The Comedian Fund.

God bless The Comedian Fund. Truly wonderful and generous people there.

Notice: On account of the recent unfortunate events befalling the Jeff Chandler Clearinghouse, future contributions towards the Comedian Fund are being processed by the newly renovated Jeff Chandler Meteorological Museum and Bait Shop.

Notice: On account of the recent unfortunate events befalling the Jeff Chandler Clearinghouse, future contributions towards the Comedian Fund are being processed by the newly renovated Jeff Chandler Meteorological Museum and Bait Shop.

In a new round of philanthropic activity that is setting the bar at a new high for charitable giving, The Comedian Fund is matching all charitable contributions 2:1 that are processed through the newly renovated Jeff Chandler Meteorological Museum and Bait Shop.

Initial contributions need only be directed initially to The Comedian Fund where they will be doubled and sent on within an appropriate time-frame to the settlement intermediary.

Contributors will receive a beautiful plaque immortalizing the fact that you gave to a noble, worthy, and not altogether unamusing cause. In addition, you will receive an authentic bearer share certificate for one share of stock in the soon-to-be-IPO'd Jeff Chandler Hedge Fund, returns to be personally guaranteed by Jeff Chandler and secured against his private assets for 3 times the amount of your contribution.

Thank you in advance for your generous gift.

The USO does great things for members of the armed forces and their families. The Salvation Army is worthwhile.

I usually donate to The Voice of the Martyrs.

My wife and I sponsor a child through Compassion International.

Or you can donate to “The Grizzled Fund; Money for Bears.”

Excellent point! Why stop giving to this great organization based on ill-perceived views? They are not politically biased, and most certainly not “Marxist”.
I don’t get it.

Welcome to FR. People can support what they like, and I’m not going to argue about another person’s scruples.

I got a catalog from “Food for the Poor” today that has opportunities to donate animals as well as school supplies and other needs for Haiti. I’ll probably give some pigs or chickens on behalf of my children’s Sunday School teachers.
