Pastor Benny Hinn: Charlatan or Man of God?
Fox ^ | 10-09-09 | Lauren Green

Posted on 10/12/2009 10:56:13 AM PDT by Brookhaven

Pastor Benny Hinn is being investigated by the Senate Finance Committee and was recently denied entry into the United Kingdom.

And talking he is, about the finance probe, his lavish lifestyle and accusations that his faith healings are fake because he offers no documentation or verification that he has, in fact, helped the blind see and the crippled walk.

“They question me on why I don’t verify,” Hinn says. "I answer, ‘God never called me to verify. I’m not a doctor.'”

Hinn says, his ministry created a department to handle verifications and follow up on the "miracles."

"The staff would call and people would be mad and say, 'Why are you questioning that I was lying up there?’”

“Then we would call the doctors. They wouldn’t talk to us most of the time so it didn’t work.”

Benny Hinn Ministries doesn’t publish its finances, but one report estimated it takes in $100 million a year.

The committee is investigating whether the ministries are using their tax-exempt status to further God's work — or to fund luxuries like mansions, expensive cars and private jets.

Grassley’s office confirms this, saying Benny Hinn Ministries is one of only two that have cooperated completely with the Finance Committee's requests.

But questions still loom about Hinn's lavish lifestyle and his private plane, which he says his ministry owns.

The pastor defends both, saying that "in today’s world, there’s this idea that preachers are supposed to be poor, wearing sandals and riding bicycles, I guess … which is really nonsense.

“The Lord wants us to follow His righteous life, but yet we have to exist in the 21st century. You can’t be going about riding a bicycle and to travel the world … that is not smart."

Too bad the media didn’t give a damn about a charlatan like Jeremiah Wright and never bothers to investigate where it is that Reverend Al Sharpton or Reverend Jessie Jackson got their titles or where they preach every week.

The media really hasn’t with Hinn either.

It seems they are perfectly happy to allow him to do his damage to Christianity.

Works for me! Heretic applies as well. BTW, how long do you think it will be before a Hinn supporter fires Psalm 105:15 at us? :)

There are plenty of good words to describe him, but most of them would probably get you banned.

I'm all for stupid people being able to give their money to whomever they please. HOWEVER, if Hinn has "not for profit" status, he needs to be stripped of that. Then he can go on his merry way.

I do not think that Congress should be wasting their time on this one guy. Now, if they went through ALL non-profits and Hinn was included, that would be a good thing.

Hello, Jesse Jackson? Mind if we take a peek atcher books?

excellent video of a fraud in action. They dont show him in "action" on TV anymore.

His works will be judged by God one day, and that is the only judgment that counts.

Some of Benny’s prophetic utterances:

12-31-89:

“The Spirit tells me - Fidel Castro will die - in the 90’s. Oooh my! Some will try to kill him and they will not succeed. But there will come a change in his physical health, and he will not stay in power, and Cuba will be visited of God.”

“The Lord also tells me to tell you in the mid 90’s, about ‘94-’95, no later than that, God will destroy the homosexual community of America. But He will not destroy it - with what many minds have thought Him to be, He will destroy it with fire. And many will turn and be saved, and many will rebel and be destroyed.”

In April 2000, Benny proclaimed that Syria’s Hafez Assad would sign a peace treaty with Israel, Assad died in June.

Benny Hinn is a false prophet and is no man of God.

Take that to the bank.

I think that it was Mark Twain who paid a visit to the shrine at Lourdes and later commented:

I saw stacks and stacks of devices which the cured had discarded after their prayers were answered.

Crutches, braces, wheelchairs - more than you could count in a day.

Curiously, I failed to see even a single wooden leg.

I’m more concerned when we are demanded to pay for the crooks in DC vs. those people who willing give their money.

Those who trash our Constitution to tear down America as she is known. And fill jobs w/known crooks, commies and liars. THAT affects me - not what Benny Hinn does or we are told he does.

Anything to take eyes off of the REAL crooks stealing from us and the USA.

In his own sleazy way, Hinn has damaged as many people as Wright or Jackson, not to mention the harm he has done to Christianity.

But he was still a guest on the Tonight Show in the 1960s because he said such wacky things.

Curiously, I failed to see even a single wooden leg.

Ouch. The only answer I can think of from a religious stand point (pun intended) is a missing leg does not hurt or cause pain? Best I could come up with. I had a sports injury on vacation that caused my left arm to have violent spurts of pain and spasms. Something to do with a spinal disk hitting a nerve. I went to a saint's tomb a week after the injury and prayed. No pain relief. I came home a week later and doctor says I am in line for a long recovery period and maybe surgery and he does give me pills for swelling and for the pain. A month goes by and pain is gone. The doctor says my recovery seems "miraculous" to him to have had what I have heal so quickly with no therapy.

With that said - no limb grew back and I am a rationalist but stuff like that does make you take a second look at the world of miracles.

Course you heard about the healing service he had a few years back. He asked for anyone who needed healing to come forward. A woman on crutches hobbled up and a middle-aged man. Benny asked the woman her name and what he could do to help her. She said her name was Mrs. Smith and she could not walk or stand without the aid of her crutches. He told her to proceed around behind the curtain.

He turned to the man and said, “What is your name and what can I do for you, sir?” The man replied, “Mr. Jones, I have thith lithp that I have had all my life.” Benny also instructed him to go behind the curtain.

He then called out, “Mrs. Smith, I want you to throw your right crutch over the curtain.” The crutch came flying over. “Now, Mrs. Smith,” he said, “I want you to throw your left crutch over the curtain.” The other crutch came sailing over the curtain.

“Mr. Jones, I command you to speak!” Benny exhorted.

“Mith Thmith jutht fell on her ath.” he meekly replied.

Sorry...no offense. An oldie but goodie!

Will their be a CZAR to limit the salaries of these charlatans too? At least they should be required to send donors an audited tax statement of where the funds go. Separation of church and state in this regard has been nothing more than a license to steal tax free.
