What a treat!/s
BTW in the UK Christmas albums do not have the coinage they do in the states, and are seen as pretty tacky by definition, so I might be prejudiced.
The most prolific singer of all time, America’s best balladeer, and with 47 albums to his credit, probably the most productive.
No way a man can hear “Hurricane” or “Slow Train Coming” and not realize they’re listening to a real, honest-to-goodness-in-our-era BARD!
Don’t forget that Dylan sided with Christianity a score of years ago, and that this would be a natural extension of faith.
And the charitable cause would underscore that.
I would certainly say that he is ONE of the greatest songwriters of all times and that he WAS the most prolific singer, but his voice is not what it was thirty or forty years ago.
Is that a criticism or a compliment?
Is that serious or humor?
:>)
Maybe it's just that it was our era, but I don't even think about Dylan's voice. It's just "dylan" and it's supposed to sound like that.
Nashville Skyline is the oddball.
His voice was always raspy, but it's worse now.
I saw him a few times back in the mid-80s when he did some shows with the Grateful Dead and I just wasn't that impressed with his performance. However, he is a master songwriter.
Sounds right.
His songs are the purest poetry of any 20th century songwriter. Somebody said if you're asked for an attribution to some famous quote, gauge your guesses according to the following best bets: 1) the Bible; 2) Shakespeare; 3) Dylan.
It's surprising how often that is correct.

Amen. Charity begins at home.
I can't wait to get this album which most likely will lend support to the fact that Dylan is still a Christian (although I have Streisand's Christmas album, too, so time will tell.)
Secular Xmas with Zimmy?
As a fan of Stephen Lawhead’s fiction, I don’t lightly use the word “bard” when speaking of a balladeer.
Have you read Lawhead? You might have trouble with a bit of his theology (he is a Christian), but I’m not even sure of that.
His “Byzantium” is, in my opinion, well worth the time for anyone to read.
You’ll have to buy it and listen. I don’t know yet.
However, when we gather for our “hanging of the greens” at our church, we have a whole range of Christmas music to include “secular”.
Let us hope it is not entirely secularized. This is merely a press release intended not to offend those humnanity loving secularists with any mention of the reason for the season.
I have 12 of his albums, Highway 61 Revisited is my favorite, but his voice sucks.
You might have trouble with a bit of his theology (he is a Christian)
Trouble? As in he's an Arminian Christian or what?
