This week, we received some terrible news. The six-year old grandson of a dear friend died suddenly. The little one had an underlying health issue, apparently caught a bug, and had to be hospitalized. With medical care, he got better, and everyone thought that he was past the worst of it when he collapsed and died without warning.
Please, pray for this beautiful family. In addition to the little boy, they have two daughters. I can't imagine what the parents are going through. His grandmother, my friend, is stricken. I have never in my life seen anyone so utterly consumed with grief. It breaks our hearts all over again to see her this way.
Finally, if you could, please say a prayer for our family. In the past few years we've had so many serious illnesses and deaths in our circle of friends and family; we've honestly lost all count. There are days I've hesitated to pick up when the phone rings, just not wanting to hear any more bad news. I know that is not the right response; that we are never given more than we can bear. I pray for strength and peace, so that we may comfort and help others as God intends.
Dreadful. May the little one rest in peace. Prayers for the family.

So awful. Prayers up.
Like you, my family has suffered losses of people that seem too young to die. Four of my aunts and uncles died unexpectedly in recent years, and all of them were the youngest of my aunts and uncles. We don’t know why God takes us when he does, but we can’t know His ways and His timing.
I have found this verse helpful.
2 Corinthians 5:8 “Sorrow not as them who have no hope, for we know that to be absent from the body, is to be present with The Lord.”

Prayers for your friends family as well as yours. I know how you feel, I lost my Mom Dad husband and best friend in a two year period. I was numb for a long time.
How heartbreaking, mountainbunny. I’m praying for this family and for yours. God bless and be with each of you in your own special needs for strength and comfort.
My prayers for the family of that little six year old boy and for your own family. It never rains but it pours when trials and tribulations take hold, it seems.

What a dreadful loss! Prayers for all that Christ will heal their broken hearts, and console them in their sorrow.
Dear God, please help this family in their grief. I know they miss their little six-year old desperately. Nothing I can say will relieve their loneliness, but You, oh Jesus, can let them know that he is in your loving arms and feeling the joy of your warmth and love.
And please, Jesus, help this entire family who have suffered so much.
How sad. I don’t know how anyone survives the death of a beautiful innocent child. I will pray for the family—
may our Lord lift the whole family up in his tender arms.

My very own Grandmother used to say that the worse part of growing old was saying goodbye. Wise woman....I think of her often.
