The origin of the word Istanbul, I assume you know, is "εις την πολιν". Istanbul, at least to me, sounds more Turkish than "Εις την πολιν" or "Κωνσταντινούπολη" (Constantinople). I do my best to avoid using the word Istanbul in any event. "The City", or "Constantinople", are appropriate.

The Turks try and lay claim for things not their own all the time. This is the first time I have seen in print a Turk acknowledge where they leave was not places their ancestors came from and hod no hand in founding.
