The patriarch of the Orthodox Church of Ethiopia says he will announce to the world Friday the unveiling of the Ark of the Covenant, perhaps the world's most prized archaeological and spiritual artifact, which he says has been hidden away in a church in his country for millennia, according to the Italian news agency Adnkronos.
Abuna Pauolos, in Italy for a meeting with Pope Benedict XVI this week, told the news agency, "Soon the world will be able to admire the Ark of the Covenant described in the Bible as the container of the tablets of the law that God delivered to Moses and the center of searches and studies for centuries."
The announcement is expected to be made at 2 p.m. Italian time from the Hotel Aldrovandi in Rome. Pauolos will reportedly be accompanied by Prince Aklile Berhan Makonnen Haile Sellassie and Duke Amedeo D'Acosta.
Jeremiah 3:16 points to a time when the Ark will vanish not only physically, but from the minds of the people: "And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more."
The Book of Revelation says the Ark is in the temple of God in heaven (Rev. 11:19). Muslim scholars say it will be found near the end of times by the Mahdi – a messianic figure in Islam

15. He will cause Islam to be the only religion practiced on the earth.
16. He will appear riding a white horse (possibly symbolic).
17. He will discover some previously undiscovered biblical manuscripts that he will use to argue with the Jews and cause some Jews to convert to Islam.
He’s way too late. Indiana Jones found it in the 1930s.

This is interesting. I remember seeing a documentary about the Ark on PBS or something. It was kept in very low key church in Ethiopia. Monks would guard the church. Now if a nice miracle would occur, that would get a few heads turning. I wonder what Pope Benedict thinks of it all? I thought the ark was taken away during the Babylonian captivity? Did they sell it to some ethiopian merchant for a nice price back in 600 BC?
So, it turns out the mahdi is an Ethiopian Christian patriarch.

Mahdi and David.......arrive to save Islam
I have a question. Why isn’t this upcoming event mentioned anywhere else in the news? I did a Yahoo search, and no one else is reporting this. It seems to me that, at the very least, this would be newsworthy archeologically. It doesn’t make sense to me.

Well, according to Bible text, a man not authorized to touch it reached to steady it when it was about to topple over, and he was ‘struck down, instantly’. The Philistines were imedaitely struck with a ‘plague’ when they went to open it after caturing it in battle with the Israelites, s they left it sitting out for years and years and it was eventually towed by oxen back to Jerusalem (where the man reached to steady it on the journey).
Sounds like a description of the ANTICHRIST!

Paulous said he would make the full announcement this Friday, June 26, 2 PM local time (3 PM Israel time, 8 AM New York time) at a press conference in Rome.
The claim that the Biblical Holy Ark has been kept at the Church, in the city of Axum, is an old one, but this is the first time that the Church plans to actually reveal the actual container, or news of it. It is not known whether the Church claims that the actual Tablets of the Law are inside it.
Copies of the alleged Ark are kept in many other churches in Ethiopia.
The news of the impending announcement was first reported by the Italian news agency Adnkronos. Pauolos told the news outlet, “Soon the world will be able to admire the Ark of the Covenant described in the Bible as the container of the tablets of the law that G-d delivered to Moses, and the center of searches and studies for centuries.”
Pauolos said “The Ark of the Covenant has been in Ethiopia for many centuries. As Patriarch, I have seen it with my own eyes, and only a few, highly-qualified persons could do the same - until now.”

The building of the Ark of the Covenant – also known as the Ark of Testimony and the Ark of G-d’s Covenant – in accordance with Divine instructions is recounted in the Book of Exodus. The Ark held the Tablets of the Law, and traveled with the People of Israel, leading the way into the Promised Land. It was placed first in the Tabernacle in Shilo, and centuries later in the Holy Temple built by King Solomon. Since then, its whereabouts have been unknown, though one popular legend says it was brought to Ethiopia. Alternatively, it could be under the Temple Mount, in a cave at Mt. Nevo in Jordan, in the Vatican, a hideaway in Utah, or elsewhere.

It has been posited that the Ark has resided in a church in Axum, Ethiopia all this time ...
But it's not their day job ... they're just moonlighting.
When Solomon dedicated the Temple, we are told there was only the tablets of stone in the one he placed in the Holy of Holies. We are not told what happened to Aarons rod that budded or to the jar filled with manna.
This is too much..I just choked on my lunch!
