The Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), an association of the world's Islamic states, is pushing the United Nations to outlaw "defamation" of religion in general – and of one religion in particular.

The current proposal by the OIC member States to create legislation that would sanction perpetrators of "defamation of religion" has a number of unanticipated problems and consequences.

Does anybody else wonder why we still support the UN?

It tries to undermine the Constitution of the USA and
would love to cripple our Constitutional Republic.

In over 60 years No major politician has ever tried
to get the USA out of the UN.

16 out of 17 of the AMERICANS that were involved
in creating the UN were later identified, in sworn
testimony, as secret communist agents.

The first Secretary General was the AMERICAN Alger Hiss.
Alger Hiss served time in prison pursuant to his
involvement in a Communist spy ring.

Many of the other AMERICANS that were involved in
creating the UN fled the country, to avoid prosecution.

The ONE AMERICAN, that was involved in creating the UN
and was NOT later identified, in sworn testimony, as a
secret communist agent, was Dean Acheson.
Dean Acheson’s law firm was the legal representative
of the Soviet Union, in US courts.

If the AMERICANS that were involved in creating the UN
were Communists, what do you think we got from the rest
of the world?

How about making it illegal to cut off the heads of people whose religion you don’t like?

Would this mean that Richard Dawkins would go to jail whenever he went on an anti-Christian rant? Somehow, I suspect the law as-applied would not work that way.

Would Christians go to jail when they point out that Mohammed was either crazy, a liar, or demon possessed? Or some combination of the foregoing? Probably.

Would Mark Steyn go to jail over most of his books that mention Islam? Probably.

“How about making it illegal to cut off the heads of people whose religion you don’t like?”

That would be sort of disrespectful of one of Islams unique contributions to the wonderful multicultural diversity of the world, don’t you think?

Could Saudi Arabia still have a death penalty for any non-muslim who dares enter certain segregated cities?

I guess this is a case of be careful what you ask for! The Islamic religion is committed to trashing every other religion on the face of the Earth. What will they do with their hate for the Christians, the Jews, the Hindus?

The Holy Inquisition of the Catholic Church, like it or not, never accused anyone who did not claim to be a Catholic Christian. It is an internal Catholic ecclesial court.

The proposed legislation is about non-Muslim defaming Islam, non-Hindu defaming Hinduism, etc. There is no analogy here.
