Knock down drag out open thread of all things precious to your doctrines and traditions.

Ok boys and girls here is a chance to defend what you hold dear and near to your religion. For years now I have seen threads that make statements that I do not agree with but can not respond to because they hide behind the guise of being a devotional, or a caucus, or ecumenical. So here is a chance for open debate for all things that have been closed to opposing views in the past.

There will be only two guide lines no personal attacks and no posting of numerous links in a response or making a point. If you can not argue a point don’t respond by posting links. Yes I know that it is not part of the posting religious guidelines, but this is my thread so I get to make up the rules.

I am limiting this to religion due to the fact I can not post it in both general discussion and religion.

If some one would like to start a thread like this in general discussion by starting off that they believe that Fords are better than Chevys or that Obama is better than a potato then do so. But please refrain yourselves not to bring up Fords or Obama.

One other thing if you do not post directly to me I doubt if I will know what you have said concerning a point so if you have posted to others and want my opinion then ping me. I do not have time to read all posts. With that said let the debates begin.

I predict this will turn out badly.

So far it's pretty funny.

Not to mention that of all religions on Earth, only ONE makes murder part of their central belief.

Oh I don't know about that. While Islam is I'm sure the religion to which you are referring might I point out that more people have been slaughtered in the name of humanism than any other. Need I remind you of the 45 million innocent children that have been murdered in the United States alone since 1973? It took the Catholics during their inquisision over 400 years to kill that many people and even that number is highly disputed.
And how can we forget about the 20 million Jews and Christians that Stalin slaughtered or the 11 million Jews and Christians that Hitler slaughtered and...

Naaaaah. Secular humanism is the most violent religion there is.
Just look at how many secular humanist/atheists rob, mug and murder innocent people each year not only here in the United States but around the world.

Conservative Christians tend to kill only in times of war or when their loved ones are threatened. We DO NOT seek to harm others but rather do everything we can to protect the innocent.
And since someone decided to throw obomba's name into the mix let me just point out what a good example he is in that just because someone claims to be a Conservative or a Christian it does not for one second make those claims true.

Obomba is a fascist tyrant and worse he is a Muslim, NOT the Christian he claims to be. He is a liar as are any people that violate the laws of the land and indiscriminately harm innocent people.

JMHO

” This is our second year in a row without a Christmas tree,...”

My first. The guys thoughtfully put the tree up while I was off for the afternoon and the first thing that greeted me when I opened the front door was a blast of cat urine smell that would bring tears to your eyes. How they missed the smell is beyond all rational thought.

My male cat of sainted memory (+ 6/18/08) must have drenched the tree last year (kidney problems which led to his demise) and we put it away without detecting it.

Ah. One year (almost) in a hot, hot, garage attic storage and voila!

No Tree This Year!

My personal faith includes trying (and often failing) to follow in the example of Jesus, trying not to judge others, and praying regularly. Helping others when I can.

Other than that, I don't have any problem with how anyone else practices their faith. I don't get caught up in who's going where after death or whether their doctrine is "correct" or not.

My whole life, I have seen or read about groups of people who agree on 90 + percent of dogma and still want to persecute each other for the < 10 percent. No thanks.

Hope that you all have a Merry Christmas.

So far.... No replies have been deleted.

Pretty unusual for a Religion thread.

What I think I need to do is to post a comment so as to offend the Religion Moderator.

So... with that in mind... in a few minutes you should see a post that was deleted. That will have been me.

(Just hope and pray that I don't go too far and get a huge time out)

“if life gives you lemons” Might I suggest Whiskey Sours instead? Using Jack Daniels of course, here’s how.
Step 1: Mix 3 cups sugar and 2 cups filtered water in a sauce pan and stir over medium heat until sugar is completely dissolved. This is known as simple syrup.
Step 2: Squeeze 12 lemons and strain the juice.
Step 3: Add equal amounts of lemon juice and simple syrup.
Step 4: Add 1 egg white per 1/2 liter, or 1/2 quart.
Step 5: Mix equal amounts of JD and sour mix, shake over ice and garnish with a cherry.
See, I didn’t even mention what’s his name or the kind of car he drives...

As a believing Catholic, I know that anyone who puts mustard on a hamburger should be rounded up and locked in a death camp. It's the Lord's will after all.
