Not to be sarcastic, but a "good outcome," given the two main-party choices, is not possible. We are forced to ask God to ratify a "lesser-of-two-evils" decision yet again. This will have to do for Tuesday, I suppose, but we had better get busy to "improve" the quality of candidates immediately after this election. A thread of a mass-exodus to a third party (for example: the Constitution Party) needs to be put before the RNC ASAP, with a view to either forcing the Republicans back to their erstwhile conservative principles, or making good with the threat.

As things stand now, we should be embarrassed that we are forced to implore God's aid on behalf of such a poor choice as McCain. We have collectively, as a nation, brought this circumstance on ourselves by our own complacency. We must do much better next time.

Our Lady of Prompt Succor, Hasten to Help Us!

Our Lady of Prompt Succor, Hasten to Help Us!

Our Lady of Prompt Succor, Hasten to Help Us!

Link to story about history of Our Lady of Prompt Succor --

Excerpt from that page:

Some call it "The Battle That Missed the War," as the treaty ending the War of 1812 had been signed in Ghent two weeks prior to the event. But Andrew Jackson's victory has always appeared to the people of New Orleans as bordering on the supernatural. General Jackson regarded the victory as a "signal interposition of heaven" that required an external manifestation of gratitude. He requested that a service of public thanksgiving be performed in St. Louis Cathedral. After attending the service, General Jackson visited the Ursuline nuns at the convent to express appreciation for their prayer:

Our Lady of Prompt Succor, Hasten to Help Us!

Short of this excerpt is that a Protestant future President asked for prayers of thanksgiving to Our Lady of Prompt Succor...

Holy God, Holy Immortal One have mercy on us, and on the USA.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession
was left unaided.

Inspired by this confidence,
I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother.
To thee I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful.

O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen.

I've done two thousand Hail Marys in her honor and 20 Chaplets of Divine Mercy. I hope to say more Chaplets before the election's over, and intend to pray on election day as much as I can (although I'll be at work).

The importance of praying for this election cannot be overestimated.

Thank you for your post on the Miraculous Medal. In '04, I worked as a volunteer at the GOP Convention here in NY. On the first day going in to the Garden, there was a nun standing outside among the crowds passing out these medals. I remember asking for her prayers and have kept my medal close ever since.

“Hear me and understand well, my son the least, that nothing should frighten or grieve you. Let not your heart be disturbed. Do not fear that sickness, nor any other sickness or anguish. Am I not here, who is your Mother? Are you not under my protection? Am I not your health? Are you not happily within my fold? What else do you wish? Do not grieve nor be disturbed by anything. Do not be afflicted by the illness of your uncle, who will not die now of it. be assured that he is now cured.”

Yes, thank you all: all I can add on, I see the AMM site was mentioned and I know of it in Perryville Missouri, the Central Assoc. of the Miraculous Medal http://www.cammonline.com/index.html is in Philadelphia, I think someone mentioned Pennsylvania. Every monday the Miraculous Medal Novenas are said and in other places in the country. No time to research it today, however I will grasp mine and pray and reflect on it, noon time...also, my broadband was breaking up last night, the image I had of the Miraculous Medal was the first good one I could get on the web though I wanted it in the English language.

As for WAFUSA: there are apologetic sites on the web, no time for discussing that today.

This thread is both a prayer thread and a Catholic caucus in the Religion Forum.

No debate of any kind is allowed on a prayer thread - and only Catholics are welcome to participate in a Catholic caucus.

Therefore your two posts this morning were pulled.

You are welcome to start your own prayer thread.

For more guidelines to the Religion Forum, click on my profile page.
