Hey, many bishops have stepped up when it comes to presenting the REAL Church teaching on the baby butchery issue, it seems like many more than ever before. Which is GREAT.
But the vast,vast majority don’t seem to use discipline to teach this simple rule : that being into baby butchery gets one nixed from the Church. And it’s shameful.

You inspire me, Salvation. Always keeping in mind the power of prayer over our bishops is something I fail at a lot. But you gotta admit, a few squeeky wheels calling out the bishops on their seeming failures on the matter of baby butchery ‘probly wouldn’t hurt the workings of the holy Spirit either.

Many of us are equally guilty of lambasting priests and bishops, thus placing ourselves in the 'judgement' seat. That is why the Catholic Church is like a hospital for sinners. We thank our Lord for bestowing on us the Sacrament of Confession where our souls may be cleansed from these sins.
Sure enough, let's not make excuses for sin.
But in this day and age with public forums like FR where we laity have the ability to let our Bishops and clergy hear what we SINCERELY think they should be saying or doing, then we, in charity, should let them know.
I have to admit, I'm proud of how they've come up to bat in this election!
You know, they have to fight human respect just like all of us and they are coming through!

As opposed to what other period in history? The recent public presentations by bishops of what the Church teaches as concerns baby butchery are a vast improvement over past decades, but that wouldn’t take much in my opinion.
Do you think that public Catholic leaders could assist the forces of baby butchery and claim this assistance is cool with Church teaching and not be called out by name as excommunicated by their actions if they didn’t publicly recant their veiws on baby butchery and change their odious ways 800 years ago?
Plus, there are going to be WAAAAY too many supposed Catholics pulling the lever for the baby butcherist party, but hopefully this number is shrinking in recent years. If all the Catholics voted Church teaching on this issue it would eventually crush the opposition.
You are right about the awesome power of prayer, but this doesn’t mean speaking out about this shameful subject is going to hurt the cause.

You know, I am so proud of our bishops. They have really stepped up. It’s like they finally clued in and realized that there are horrific consequences to the cause of life should Obama win. I was gripping about our pastor not stepping up, and the next day he announced that our parish would be participating in Fr. Corapi’s novena. I am inspired by them stepping up and the Catholic swing towards life in this election.
The Catholic Church is more united on pro-life than it was before the 2000 and 2004 elections.I agree much more could be done and is being done.Because of our laity led pro-life movement in our church we will have adoration in our main church all day on Election Day.This IS the time to pray.

Given that the Church in the U.S. went through a horrible period in the 60s and 70s when it succumbed to the pressures of the Spirit of the Age (and we all know who THAT is!), I am relieved that the bishops are starting to realize the consequences of that surrender and fight back.
Sure it would be nice if every bishop suddenly came to his senses, but if we don't support and applaud those who DO work to bring the Church back, the others won't follow.

That’s fair enough. But the other side of it is that if all the bishops hear is how wonderfully they are now engaging the baby butchery problem they could could get complacent and think this is all they have to do. We are so starved for leadership from most bishops that they can look very brave in comparison to what has been said on the issue in the last few decades. But in reality all they are doing is part of what they should have been doing all along.
They are doing a pretty good job in presenting Church teaching on this issue, but the lack of discipline used to teach is shameful. It sends an awful message to the laity, a large percentage of who think it’s really no big deal because they see known Catholic pro-baby butchering pols not only support baby butchery but claim this is cool with Church teaching and not be named as confirmed excommunicated for their odious actions and refusal to publicly recant/change their positions.

Bishop Gregory was well-respected in the Belleville (IL) diocese. His black replacement is an arrogant, selfish fool (a la Obama). I haven’t seen his name on any pro-life petitions.
Mahoney? What a joke! He’s probably tring to figure out a good place to put a huge Obama fascist emblem to be fashioned out of mosaic in his ugly new cathedral.
