Sorry I’m not quite sure who was belittled in the article. We are talking about minor disputations among theologians. Along the lines of now that you mention it probably was a satire by Voltaire about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. Kind of like Rush humor illustrate absurdity by being absurd. The theologians involved probably get together afterward and enjoy a beverage together. Remember the article is satire and has no factual content other than historical persons who’s positions are well known. Kind of like the alternate history novels of Harry Turtledove or Newt Gingrich.
