Oh No! The Catholic haters will hate this article! I doubt whether they will be posting their vile remarks on this thread!
Nah, it won’t shake the Catholic-haters.
1) This guy abused a GIRL.
2) Apparently no cover-up to make things worse.
3) Gamecock already posted something about an LDS sexual abuser who went after children and one large dog - thereby temporarily protecting the Catholic-haters crowd from complaints of foucusing exclusively on Catholics.
This sort of thing wouldn’t happen if the Pope would just allow Southern Baptist ministers to get married.
**James Robinson turned himself into the Tarrant County Jail after a warrant was signed for his arrest. **
Good.
At least it was a girl. Our lowlife charlatans arent as pervo.
***one large dog***
That is an understatement.
Did his church try to cover it up or reassign him to another parish?
Was the abuse homosexual in nature?
Will the church be subject to millions of dollars in damages for the offense?
He does that on occasion, to try and throw us off...but we really know, don’t we.
Help me out, here in Mexico, IS THIS the same James Robinson who has the TV programs? Any relationship?
Was there a 50+ year active conspiracy by higher-ups (bishops) to systematically enable the sexual abuse of thousands? Justice will not be served until bishops are imprisoned for their complicity.
See, you all won't even give me credit for the couple I posted about the Prestonwood guy - or the old one that I posted about a Presbyterian preacher that got me put on the Catholic ping list.
I guess I'll have to try harder to be like Gamecock.
No. James "Jay" Virtue Robinson IV is the pastor at Southwood Baptist Church in Tarrant County.
I thought the same thing when I saw the story. Poor guy will probably get this think psychologically pinned to him anyway.
We have a younger priest in our Catholic church who I am not too comfortable with. There’s something about the way he acts, especially with young children. I just hope that my gut feelings are wrong and it’s just a case of a priest who is a little strange but harmless to children.
Funny?? The damage done by this servant of God to a young girl is beyond calculation.
Tell that to my nephew. His minister is in the slammer and it wasn’t because of a girl.
I do think the Catholic church had a peculiar problem with gay ministers; I believe hundreds (thousands) of gay Catholics figured if they couldn’t marry anyway, they might as well go into the priesthood; maybe even some liberals / commies figured it was a great way to agitate for social change from within the church. (Consider other mainstream churches’ problems with homosexuality.) So I’m not attempting to say that all churches have the same problems the Catholic Church had in the 60s and 70s (which was when the vast majority of the abuse cases occurred)...
BUT...
I wouldn’t be so quick to presume there was no coverup, and no civil liability issues.
The relationship had gone on for years, and everyone at the church is being very tight-lipped to the media.
And don’t think that there’s no shuffling of ministers in congregational churches. Suppose a minister is accused of something... there are whispers... he’s confronted, but there’s no proof... If they fire him, they admit something happened and invite lawsuits, so they simply quietly accept his resignation. Problem solved?
He’ll just start a new “minsitry” with a new congregation.
That way everybody is on the up and up. Everybody knows that this priest is to be watched and if a molester sent to prison if possible.
If not, then enjoy the services and help the padre out.
Why would "Catholic haters" hate an article about a Baptist pastor surrendering himself to the police on sexual abuse (heck, lets just call it what it is - statutory rape) charges? The only thing "Catholic" about the referenced article is that a Catholic chose to talk about it on FR.
Did "Protestant haters" hate the articles about Fr. Bob Whipkey (the naked jogging priest) because a Protestant posted them?
A 16 year old girl knows better. Ive got three and believe me, by 16 the damage is done.
Any sane priest would avoid ever being alone with anybody these days except in the most controlled and monitored circumstances.
Consequently I would be VERY concerned about a priest who was ever alone with a child or a young person. It’s a matter of the priest having the prudence to know who vulnerable he is. If he lacks that prudence, he may lack some other virtues as well.

Listen to your gut and watch him like a hawk. Make sure he’s never alone with your children.
“At least it was a girl. Our lowlife charlatans arent as pervo.”
That was an ignorant thing to say (I’m not typing what I’d really like to say to you).
There is great damage when a spiritual leader exploits a boy or girl. This probably ruined the girl’s life.
Sorry but 16 - 18 year old girls know its wrong to screw around with a grown man as much as he knew not to mess with her. I know I have 3 of them.

It was easy. Try www.stopbaptistpredators.org
Assuming you have common sense, I'd recommend you keep your eye on him.
Just another man who couldn’t control his urges toward young girls. The fact that he’s a priest just makes for bigger headlines. He should have known better and kept it in his pants. No need to bring his church into it, other than that’s where he met the girl.
As do my girls. If a girl at that age doesn't know that, then better look at the parents closely. Most of the time, they're at fault for not teaching the girl the things she should know. Yes, there are bad apples, but they're actually pretty rare if the parents do the right things.
(Don't even get me started on the things that parents don't teach their kids but should.)
The clergy are not the only ones who need to follow that advice if they value their good reputations. Adults in any business that involves young people would be wise to make sure others are present. The same advice goes for male neighbors.
Actually false accusations fall into the "rare" category, I believe, and my intentions are not to exaggerate the problem.
Since the great majority of men are decent human beings, they don't deserve the distrust caused by "rotten apples".
You should trust your gut feelings. It’s far safer.
