O most holy Virgin, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, you are the joy of the Church Triumphant, the help of the Church Militant, and the comfort of the Church Suffering. Therefore, extend, we pray you, your merciful glance on those numerous souls who suffer in the fires of Purgatory and free them, that they may be admitted to the beatific vision of God as soon as possible.
Remember O holy Virgin, to help especially those of my relatives, and those who are most abandoned and devoid of help. O most merciful Virgin, pour the merits of the precious blood of Jesus on the elect brides of Jesus Christ until they are comforted in the Heavenly glories.
And you, Holy Souls, O elect souls, who can do so much through your prayers to God for us, intercede, therefore, for us and free us from the dangers of body and soul. Protect our families until we have all been granted admission to eternal happiness. Amen.
Out of the depths I cry to You, O Lord.
Lord, hear my voice!
Let Your ears be attentive to my voice in supplication
If You, O Lord, mark iniquities, Lord, who can stand?
But with You is forgiveness, that You may be revered.
I trust in the Lord; my soul trusts in His word.
My soul waits for the Lord more than sentinels wait for the dawn.
For with the Lord is kindness, and with him is plenteous redemption;
And He will redeem Israel from all their iniquities.
O Jesus, full of grace and charity, victim for sinners, You were impelled by love for us, and to glorigy in Heaven and on earth the Servant of God Padre Pio of Pietrelcina, who so generously participated in your sufferings. He loved You so much and laboured so faithfully for the glory of Your Heavenly Father and for the good of souls. With Confidence I beg You to grant me, through the intercession of Saint Padre Pio, the grace of [help for Jim Robinson, founder of FreeRepublic], which I ardently desire.
Glory be to the Father [three times]
1. O my Jesus, You have said: Truly I say to you, ask and it will be given you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you. Behold, I knock, I seek and I ask for the grace of [help for Jim Robinson, founder of FreeRepublic].
Our Father
Hail Mary
Glory be to the Father
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You.
2. O my Jesus, You have said: Truly I say to you, if you ask anything of the Father in My name, He will give it to you. Behold, in Your name, I ask the Father for the grace of [help for Jim Robinson, founder of FreeRepublic].
Our Father
Hail Mary
Glory be to the Father
3. O my Jesus, You have said: Truly I say to you, heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away but My words will not pass away. Encouraged by Your infallible words, I now ask the grace of [help for Jim Robinson, founder of FreeRepublic].
Our Father
Hail Mary
Glory be to the Father
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, for Whom it is impossible not to have compassion on the afflicted, have pity on us miserable sinners, and grant us the grace which we ask of You through the sorrowful and immaculate heart of Mary, Your tender mother and ours.
Hail Holy Queen, mother of mercy,
Saint Joseph, foster father of Jesus, pray for us.
Sunday, May 25, 2008, is also the anniversary of Saint Padre Pio's birth.
Jim Robinson's health is getting frail, so I feel it is a worthwhile novena to do. It honors Jim Robinson, founder of FreeRepublic. It honors God. It honors Jesus and His mother Mary.
The prayers that compose this novena are noteworthy in themselves.
I am posting this in advance to see if anyone has problems with having a daily thread on this novena, and to see if there are any recommendation.
If people want to add rosaries and masses and other prayers such as the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, they are welcome, during the 9 day period.
Even if Jim Robinson may not get up and walk out of his wheel chair, maybe someone somewhere will benefit from these prayers.
God bless!
Also, May 26th is Memorial Day.
ping
Amen.

What a wonderful idea! God bless you.

Count me in.
What a beautiful idea. Thanks for posting this.

| This litany to the Blessed Virgin Mary was composed during the Middle Ages. The place of honor it now holds in the life of the Church is due to its faithful use at the shrine of the Holy House at Loreto. It was definitely approved by Sixtus V in 1587, and all other Marian litanies were suppressed, at least for public use. Its titles and invocations set before us Mary's exalted privileges, her holiness of life, her amiability and power, her motherly spirit and queenly majesty. The principle that has been followed in their interpretation is the one enunciated by the same Pius IX: "God enriched her so wonderfully from the treasury of His divinity, far beyond all angels and saints with the abundance of all heavenly gifts, that she . . .should show forth such fullness of innocence and holiness, than which a greater under God is unthinkable and which, beside God, no one can even conceive in thought." Hence, whatever virtue and holiness is found in angels and saints must be present in Mary in an immeasurably higher degree. Listen to the Litany to the Blessed Virgin Mary in RealAudio |

Maybe the two of you, if others also have ideas, help with with setting up the format for the Novena.
We could form a committee of three to help form the Novena.
By the way, what is the Feast of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary? Is that the Annunciation or is that when she visits her cousin Elizabeth. Normally, the Feast of the Immaculate Heart follows the Feast of the Sacred Heart.
I do like the Litany of Loretto as part of it as well.
I would like to get the format setup in advance so it is nice -- if nothing else to honor Jim Robinson.
WOuld it make the Novena too long with too many prayers? Some people might be able to spend an hour on the novena a day, and it would be time well spent.
God bless, and thanks for the input...
Thanks. Can do.
Sad to hear about JimRob’s continuing health issues.
Prayers added for JR. Great idea. Continued blessings for Jim, his family and his staff for all they do here on FR.
