Naturally Jesus would celebrate the passover being a Jew and under the Mosaic Law but with His resurrection that Law was fulfilled and the opportunity to become part of ‘spiritual Israel’ went out to non-Jews. Christians do not celebrate the passover but commemorate Christ’s death.

‘And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever. "Diego" .................. Written to the Hebrews. "xone"

So......God is telling the Hebrews to keep the Passover forever????? But everyone else is to observe Easter????? Can you offer a scripture for that, please?

No, Jesus would celebrate Passover AND Resurrection Sunday. Eggs and rabbits? Why would He have anything to do with that pagan aspect of Easter?

No, we commemorate Christ's death(sacrifice for sin) AND Resurrection. The death is only 1/2 the story and is nothing without the Resurrection.

Why don’t current Christians celebrate Passover? Don’t you think the early Christians celebrated that holiday with particular joy?

And Christians, not being under that fulfilled Mosaic Law, are thus not bound to observe a weekly sabbath. The real meaning of the sabbath was discussed in the third and fourth chapters of Hebrews.

There is nothing in scripture that prohibits doing good or healing on the sabbath. The Jews had created an elaborate set of man made law that had this prohibition, but as Christ pointed out, it was not scriptural.

Yup! Like I said earlier....."Traditions of Men" [Mark 7:7] Ordinances.......Dogma! [Ephesians 2:15][Colossians 2:14].

I wish people would just use their heads when reading scripture....and not chase after some traditional fairy tale!

"Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ." (Col. 2:16,17)

I rest my case. Judging people on the holidays they celebrate is, according to God's Word, legalism defined.

When I was a kid it was fun to color eggs and fun to hunt for them.
And what kid doesn’t like candy?

When my mom and us colored the eggs, nobody was around telling us they were symbols of fertility and a pagan practice.

In our church, there is nothing spooky or pagan about the service.
It’s just another service with a specific message, which is all about worshiping God.

I don’t believe Jesus would have a problem with most services on Easter and I’m positive he wouldn’t have a problem with kids having harmless fun.

This Christian celebrates Passover.....and you may be surprised at how many others do also!

Don’t you think the early Christians celebrated that holiday with particular joy?

The early church continued to celebrate Passover until the Roman Church took things into their own hands and threatened folks with their lives if they continued these "JEWISH" observances.

Here is the Bishop of Ephesus telling us that he still observed Passover (late second century) and his family had been instructed to do so by the Apostle John (last living apostle) himself! Polycrates, Bishop of Ephesus You found the early church continuing to honor God and His Holy Festivals well into the fourth and fifth centuries before being hunted down by the state sponsored Roman Church.

Thanks, I was looking for that. Add Romans 14:5-11.

I was drawing a distinction between what Jesus started at that last meal and the passover meal.
Please note that Jesus said He was inaugurating a new covenant. The old Law covenant had been established with the death of a sacrificial animal so the new would be brought into force with the sacrifice of Christ. His death is what Christians are commanded to commorate.

If you read verse 8 you will see that the Apostle is speaking of "Man Made" traditions....."DOGMA".

I rest my case. Judging people on the holidays they celebrate is, according to God's Word, legalism defined.

If you use your head you will see that the Apostle is therefore telling the folks to ignore any criticism they encounter for observing God's Holy Sabbaths and Feast Days!

Paul, being an Apostle to the Gentiles did not just speak to Jews. Why do you think he would even bother telling these folks in Colosse about these things if they did not observe them previously??????? He is instructing them (folks of Colosse) in their observance of God's Holy Sabbaths and Festivals!

please, another pathetic attempt to mock Christ’s church with your own spin on some early church writings...

i love how folks use the church father’s writings if they can spin them to disparage the church, but when the same early church fathers show the distinctive catholicity of the early church, all the sudden, “well, that doesnt matter, cause the bible says ‘_________’, etc, etc”

‘But everyone else is to observe Easter????? Can you offer a scripture for that, please?’

Do you agree that Christ fulfilled the Law?

I am not Jewish, the Angel of the Lord didn’t pass over my house or the house of my ancestors, as far as I know. But Jesus was crucified for me and through his resurrection paid for my sin completely with no balance due.

Observe Passover if you like, I find no wrong in you for doing that. Perhaps you could grant that same consideration based upon #35 below to me.
