I’m asking if you’ve publicly acknowledged him as your King and Lord.

I’m also asking if you’ve accepted that he really rose from the dead?

I don’t know of anyone who thinks that the earth was created in 6 - 24 hour periods.

Then you don't get out much...I and millions of others believe it...

Really? Even the evangelicals I have talked to didn’t think a day in the Lords time was 24 hours of our time. I’m curious, how do you reconcile 2 Peter 3:8?

This is an LDS Caucus thread. It is NOT an open thread.

Everyone must behave as if the conversation were occuring behind the closed doors of a church.

It’s called faith meandog, and it’s a gift, not something one just starts having. Faith in God is faith from God.

Do you think that by your numerous posts slamming the faith of Mormons that you would be given a gift given the intolerance and venom that has spewed from your keyboard? When we kick against the pricks, how can we expect to be blessed with divine knowledge? Even, for the sake of argument, let’s say that Mormonism is a fraud and a fallacy... When we tear others down, and diminish their faith in God, how does that help us to strengthen out own? It doesn’t, it’s impossible, short of a Saul moment. Those don’t come along every day.

Cheers

We all have doubts at times but they generally do not last very long...

I don't mean that to be disrespectful bigotry, I have had the same discussions with RC's believing in the diety of the Virgin Mary and her bodily assumption into heaven, also with evangelicals believing that a snake actually talked Eve into biting into an apple...

I'm definately in the minority here but that's ok...I agree with you; about the deity of Mary as well as the apple wielding snake...

Gen 3:13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
Gen 3:14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

You'll notice that Lucifer didn't receive that particular curse til AFTER he beguiled (seduced) Eve...

Another important item is that the author of Genesis didn't pen the scripture til about 1500 years after the fact...Lucifer would have been known for that period of time as a serpent...The author was looking backwards and of course Lucifer would have been referred to as a serpent...But,,,

If you read the scripture, you'll know that Lucifer was the finest speciman that God ever created...He obviously didn't look like a snake or serpent initially...

So when Eve spotted Lucifer, he likely was the finest looking thing Eve had ever laid her eyes on...Eve wasn't looking at a snake in a tree...She was looking at Errol Flynn, Elvis Presley and Brad Pitt, all wrapped into one hunk of a man...

And THAT puts a whole different light on the subject...

Really? Even the evangelicals I have talked to didn’t think a day in the Lords time was 24 hours of our time. I’m curious, how do you reconcile 2 Peter 3:8

2Pe 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

It would take far, far more space and time to lay it all out with the scripture than I have available...Besides, this falls under the 'meat' of the word...God says you first must drink the 'milk' before you can handle the 'meat'...

But to offer a very quick explanation, God said he created the earth in six days, and rested the seventh...I believe that...I believe everything that God said...I don't necessarily understand everything but I believe it...

Like Michael Easley of Moody Bible says, 'I don't understand all that I know'...

People that like to work with numbers have traced backwards in the bible and concluded that with the ages of all the Patriarchs and others, the history goes back about 4000 years...

And of course we know that the Jesus Christ was on the earth approx. 2000 years ago, give or take a few...

That's six thousand years, total...Six days in God's eyes...

Revelation chapter 20 talks about the millenial reign of Jesus on the earth...A period of one thousand years...A day...A day of rest for God's creation...The seventh day...

The phrase 'a thousand years' occurs in Rev. 20 six times...

The six days of creation are a prophetic picture of man's history from creation to glory...

Like I said, there's ton's of stuff in between but it takes some serious study...

Interesting response, thanks for doing it. The LDS take 2 Peter 3:8 as literal. We believe that one day to God is 100 years to us. So, scripturally speaking, God created the earth in 6 thousand years, and then rested another thousand years. We’ve come another 6 thousand years since then.

Further, modern revelations (our own scriptures) also point out the truth of 2 Peter 3:8.

Oopa, 1000 years, not 100 years.

I don’t think we have any idea how long they were there before the fall. Time was only appointed unto man after the fall.

Thank you. I am amazed at the venom here on FR. A good man was taken down, due to fear and loathing about his faith in God.

We should know people by their fruits, not the tree, branch, or even the root.

I’m with ya meandog. According to these people faith is a gift. So why do they try so hard to evangelize? I view it as if they’re trying to talk themselves into having as few doubts as possible. I admire those who have the stones to admit they really don’t know.

None of us ‘know’. There is a difference between faith and knowledge. Faith is a gift, it’s the greatest gift we have.

It’s our faith, our gift from God that trumps the darts of darkness we see on FR every day. We evangelize because Christ has commanded us share the way to get that gift to all the world. It’s comes from God, man is nothing.

Had faith for 30 years. Have much more peace now that I don't know.

Did you lose your faith, or walk away from it?

We define faith differently so can't really respond to an unagreed upon premise.
