Hit link to watch Vlog.
Another good vent from the relentless Ms. Malkin.
It is absolutely amazing how God has become offensive.
It was kinda fun to watch the whole bikini, photoshop, wonkette stuff unfold today. The way the dark side reacts to her is one of the best indicators of her success.

Ok, so something happened. What did I miss? MM in a photochopped bikini?
I've just scanned through the thread. It's basically your culture war 101 kinda thing. Good People vs Bad People. Nothing new.
I find it difficult to believe the owners didn't know this wasn't going to happen and why they would agree to it.
Honestly Top, I agree to a huge extent.
After my children watch Veggie Tales, I explain the real story behind the fuzzed over biblical story. I recognize the watering down of the story tends to get the "God Loves You" overemphasized, and the cost of sin side almost completely covered up. It is almost a Pelagian take on the stories presented. Not to mention that Jesus is barely mentioned, if at all.
BUT. But the fact that God is presented at all is a plus. It gives me an inroad to tell the real story. Most kids, it is hard to get them to sit still for some biblical study. This gives me more of a chance; an extra ten minutes to show them the word of God.
Veggie Tales is one place nowadays that I can let the kids watch TV without the apprehension of what set of morals they are presenting. Plus Silly Songs with Larry. Usta!
I think Veggie Tales are perfect for my three year old. At her age all she needs to know is that God loves her. I have a children's bible, which is still a little old for her. In a couple years, when we start reading it together, she will recognize the stories she has already heard.
One thing that greatly frustrates me with Fundamentalist Christians--and a trait they share with Muslims--is a lack of imagination.
Don't get me wrong, I love VTs as pure entertainment. But when my childern were young they knew far more of the gospel than they would ever get from VTs. As long as you can offset the moralizing in VTs, then your kids would be OK.
Please define Fundamentalist Christian. I am proud to share the fundamental beliefs of Christianity with others of the faith. Those of my faith are some of the smartest, intellectual people I have had the honor to meet.
The term Fundamentalist has been hijacked by the liberals as a derogatory term, when it should never be used as such. Unthinking, bigoted are generally utilized as synonyms for fundamentalist, much as conservative has been. Please do not share this stupidity with the liberals, unless you think that folding on the basis of faith, morality and God is a lack of imagination...
I had in mind the publishers of Beka curriculum, Bob Jones and Rod and Staff curriculum. And those Christians who will not work at or donate to a Crisis Prenancy Center because there is a Catholic on the board. I use the term 'fundamentalist' to refer to those Christians who have a very strict sola scriptura view and take the Bible very literally, including still following tenents of the Mosaic Law. They adhere to the most basic or fundamental elements of Christianity. Hence my use of the term fundamentalist, not bigoted, just literal.
Anyway the lack of imagination opinion came from use of the various school curriculum especially in the way that they presented science, it was almost fearful like either its science or it God, not that science can lead you to God. Also from people like Mike and Debbie Pearl, who I consider fundamentalist, and their opinions in raising children. There's a bizarre dislike for fairy tales and makebelive and child's play and veggies telling stories about God. I believe that the Child Jesus had the most amazing imagination ever, rational animals alone have the ability to imagine. It's what sets us apart from the animals.
Then again, I'm Irish so I feel particularly passionate about this subject:)
I don't want to offend fellow brethren in Christ, if there is a better term for me to use, I would be happy to do so, I just don't know what it would be.
I believe in Sola Scriptura. Because of this I know the Mosaic law has been replaced by the new covenant given to all by God. Mosaic law is not a tenet of Sola Scriptura. It was given to the Israelites for Israel alone. It is what the Pharisees followed to every jot and tittle, and what Jesus said we are released from.
I understand that there are those out there that are as bad as the Pharisees, who judge those who do not follow their idea of what Christianity is. That is why Sola Scriptura is so important. The Scripture tells us what God wants. Any that try to add to the Gospel is teaching the false Gospel that Paul warns about in Hebrews.
And I also am (at least part) Irish, and the passion is not wasted on God. Just please, do not judge all Baptists by the Swaggarts, the Falwells and the Bakers. Look, and you will see those that are just as compassionate for their fellow man as any other Christian. There are bad people that claim the title fundamentalist, just as there are in any group.
God Bless,
Otto
