Oh, those verses mean something; just NOT what some here are claiming...to me, anyway. And I just don't care to get into oooooooooooooooooo, what every word, comma, period, capital letter means. I don't look for any "hidden", read between the lines,secret messages from GOD, when I read the Bible. It says what it says and that's that; except that no, I'm not a literalist. The crazy longevity, in the OT, was a common to the time and area device, also used by other cultures.

I asked a simple question, got no answers, but instead, got told a lot of rewordings of the same position. That's okay, I guess. Believe whatever you care to believe in and allow others to do the same. But, when asked a query, don't just give back some rehashed thing, saying that's the way it is, that's what everyone I know believes.

Just because you went to Sunday school doesn't mean you are a Bible Scholar. Christ is indeed foretold all through The Bible. In Genesis the part about the seed of the woman bruising the head of the serpent is indeed ... the Gospel. Cliff's notes version, yeah ... but it is there.

Satan is the highest created being in all creation. He was the very angel of light. God and the angels live outside of time. They do not exist in a limited linear way like we do. Satan knew that a human man would be born that would save the world. He may have known, not being a puny mortal like us, that a death and resurrection might be involved.

He counterfeited Mary and Christ several times BEFORE those two individuals came into time. You seem to believe it impossible to counterfeit a thing before it exists. Not for immortals unhindered by linear space and time.

Because Protestants study the Bible and do not depend on a priesthood that has never wanted the laity to know the Bible we find these things out. You should try it.

Can we absolutely PROVE that Isis, Ishtar, Isi, Cybele, Aphrodite and Venus were Satan's creation? No but studying the OT regarding all the times the Jews were lead astray by these 'Queens of Heaven' and the terrible consequences that followed .... It looks pretty solid to me.

Jesus wasn't kidding when he told Peter that Satan was as a roaring lion. Prowling in secret to devour those who love God. He's real and he's been at it for thousands of years. False religion looks to be one of his fave tricks.

I should have said AT THE SAME TIME AS CHRIST, when I threw in Mithra, but other than that, no I wasn't wrong.

I've read "THE MYSTERIES OF MITHRA" and "ORIENTAL RELIGIONS IN ROMAN PAGANISM", by Franz Cumont book. I suggest you read "THE ANCIENT MYSTERY CULTS" , edited by Marvin W. Meyer, "MYTERY RELIGIONS ON THE ANCIET WORLD", by Jocelyn Godwin,and "THE MYSTERIES OF RELIGION", by Stephen R. L. Clark; for starters.

I am amazed by someone who claims to be a Christian and doesn't want to know the secrets of the Bible. Jesus made it clear that these things were hidden from the profane but would be opened to any who had faith and willingness to know.

It IS nice that simple faith and belief in Christ is all that is required however. Even the dull get to go to heaven.

Someone earlier quoted the 'works' scriptures ... evidently trying to make the case that faith was not sufficient. Churches are full of these people. Sheep beaters. Works works works and always pointing the finger at those who do not work enough. I've seen so many driven from the Gospel by these people. I wish they would tell us how we, whose righteousness is as filthy (menstrual) rags, can work our way into Christ's favor? My experience is that loving God does produce works. They just happen. Those who preach a works doctrine are like Moses when he slew the Egyptian. They need thirty years in the wilderness to think things through. Maybe actually hear the Word of God with spiritual ears instead of their own willful personality.

You said the verse about the seed of the woman only has to do with mankind hating snakes and snakes biting people. But the Serpent was not an ordinary snake, so what sense does it make to say the judgement fell on ordinary snakes?

Oh yeah........right, sure, absolutely, it's ALL in Revelations,right there in verse ummmmmmm...whatever, where it says that GOD told Adam and Eve that Jesus was coming and that he is the Christ and explained every single chapter and verse to come and that Isis and Tammuz and Mithra and so forth and so on, were devices, no, COUNTERFEITS OF THE DEVIL, who make them all up, while he was a FAVORED angel and still in the good graces of GOD.Okay...only all of that just that that isn't in any Bible I happen to own.
