Forces of Dissent Prepare Attack on Benedict XVI
TCRNews ^ | 4/26/05 | TCRNews

Posted on 04/26/2005 11:46:15 AM PDT by Knitting A Conundrum

Fr. Robert Carr, Holy Cross Cathedral, Boston, sends us the following: "We have been alerted here that there is a move to make an assault on the Church in the US and an attempt to bring down Pope Benedict XVI in Rome through propaganda.

The Rainbow Sash Movement has called for protests in churches throughout the United States in favor of Gay rights and against Pope Benedict.
http://www.rainbowsashmovement.com/New_Web_Site_12_18_04/Stories/RSM_Pentecost_2005.htm

Meanwhile Voice of the Faithful, another movement against the Church is using the case of Fr. Marcial Maciel the founder of the Legionaires of Christ who is accused of molesting seminarians, to go after Pope Benedict XVI.

http://www.votf.org/Rome/letter.html

The Voice of the Faithful was founded with the support of Marshall Ganz, a man seeking to overthrow the Catholic Church. In fact, here you can see a letter by one of his students who is now working for Voice of the Faithful. The woman Aimee Carevich makes it clear here that the goal of the oganization is to stage a kind of a coup.

I am not surprised to see this coming. I am surprised that they think they can actually win with these tactics.

If a bunch of gay protesters entered my parish church, half the congregation would probably join them, sorry to say.

Of course, that might finally fire up the other half and the fence sitters, which would be a plus if it happened.

I think we are being called to be clear about which side of the fence we are on.

If they tried that in my parish, they would be very disappointed.

Spiritual directors speak of a cycle of consolation followed by desolation.

Christendom has enjoyed great consolation through the magnificent liturgies of the past month and through even MSM paying some attention to doctrine.

It should be no surprise that the phase of desolation will soon be at hand.

This Lutheran recalls Fr. Luther's phrase "where the Lord builds a church, the devil sets up a chapel."

This is good.

The sooner the de facto schism within the Church becomes open and formal, the better for all.

Drop all pretense, ambiguity and double speak and openly declare your opposition to the Vicar of Christ and the Church united to him. Form your own parishes, and ministries depart from ours and leave them alone.

Goodbye to all the shirtlifters, Marxists, womyn activists and witches, functional agnostics and liturgical improvisors.

Some bishops will doubtless go with them, which will be a bonus.

Benedict XVI may not be with us for a long time but he'll be here for a good time. They've picked on the wrong man to get aggressive with.

I don't think this will go anywhere ... but it does cause dissention and bad feelings - makes good press though.

VOTF is dead in Boston (where it was founded and where it should therefore be the strongest) except in a few of the wealthy white nice community parishes. Been to a few of their meetings - typical disaffected grey heads.

Rainbow Sash people are just agitators who hurt their own cause. They have made a joke of themselves.

I think the assault has already begun - first they tried the Hitler Youth thing, then they tried the US sex scandals thing, and now, disappointed by their lack of traction, they're searching for something else.

They actually believe the Church is like the Republican Party - when the Dems scream and smear loudly enough, and Republicans cut and run, even when there is no genuine guilt or reason for doing so. These people see the Church in political terms and have no understanding of either the Church in general or the Papacy in particular.

In my Latin Mass on these past few Sundays, there have been some new faces...young men who come in by themselves, sit alone, do not know the Latin Mass, and are stone faced, even though our priest is a very witty guy.

Last Sunday, one of these men received Holy Communion, kneeling right next to me. The priest seemed as shocked as I was, since this guy was smirking the entire time. No sashes yet, but we all have a feeling that it's coming.

Do you know if this is the same one who was on John DePetro yapping about women priests? She goes to Harvard Divinity School.

Fr. Carr notes that Ganz is trying to take down Mahony. Can he be all bad? ;-)

Mahony is slick, though -- you have to give him that! (Does he always speak as if he's addressing a class of second graders?)

More from TCR (this may answer your question):

The course that Aimee refers to was taught at Harvard Divinity School. It can be found here in a PDF file. http://www.carnegiefoundation.org/PEP/docs/Ganz.pdf
This course as you can see was taught in the fall of 2001. The attack on the Church began in January 2002. You can also see that it is on the Carnegie Foundation website. The Carnegie Foundation is a major charity that gives grants to various people mostly in the USA. It may mean that the Carnegie Foundation is one of the funders of this attack. (Marshall Ganz lives on grants and has his own grant writer. He is presently working in the LA area to bring down Cardinal Mahoney. Maybe it is time to start asking, Who else was in that classroom besides Aimee Carevich and Marshall Ganz? And what agencies did they represent? My guess is that we will find a who's who of the people trying to silence the Church. This may explain why the media equipment the protesters at the Cathedral used to record their events was supplied by Harvard University.

One of the text books in the case is called Rules for Radicals and they are using this book as their guideline of the work against the Church. The book is often not allowed to be sold in some countries. The USA is one where it can be sold. Rules for Radical was written by Saul Alinsky and teaches techniques such as reforming the conscience, lying, word manipulation and other Machiavelian techniques."

I followed the Rainbow Sash link to (with trepidation); turns out they're asking forgiveness:

The Rainbow Sash Movement (GLBT Catholics) recognizes the harm our Church is doing to GLBT Community, and ask for forgiveness: additionally, we ask forgiveness for sitting on our hands at times. We are not a militant group, but we are ready to be fools for Christ. It is in that capacity we call on all GLBT/Straight Catholics to enter Cathedrals and Parishes on Pentecost Sunday, May 15, 2005 as sign of hope by wearing the Rainbow Sash. We in the Catholic Church have been removed for to long from the Civil Rights Movement of GLBT person. Our social justice history calls us to this civil rights movement.

We have also been silent around the issue of Women’s Ordination, we ask our sisters in the Church to forgive us. Going forward we will call for a free and open debate on this issue. We support women’s ordination. We also call on our sisters to enter Cathedrals and Parishes with us and wear the Purple Sash as a symbol of women's ordination.

As in years past, it will be Pentecost Sunday.

Not agreed to by me. Look at how petty and minor the causes for the Great Schism in the East were... Long ago, they'd've probably been healed over, except once schism occurs. When a limb is lacerated, it continues to live beyond the point of the laceration. But a limb that is amputated necessarily dies.

Rome is finally awakening to the severity of the wound. We must bandage the wound, but I am not ready to declare that w cannot save the limb that is American Catholicism. Especially not when I am on that limb.

Everybruce: No Poofters!!

Fourth Bruce: Rule Four, now this term, I don't want to catch anybody not drinking. Rule Five,

Our Lady said at Fatima that more people go to hell for sexual sin than any other type...

And here they want the church to bless it.

Let us keep them in our prayers.

What we as individuals, and beyond must do is be willing to proclaim and demonstrate the truth.

Only real Christianity, unvarnished, unwatered down to make life simple, with its promise of the tranforming fire of God in our daily life, will make a dent in it. Against this, the dark one has no defense.

And we only get there through being willing to submit to the yoke of Jesus.

Easier said than done, but so essential.

I certainly am not interested in severing the limb of American Catholicism. I am interested in either reforming or expelling a handful of malign dissidents, who are intent on subverting the Church from within. If we can get rid of the bad shepherds, the sheep will resume following the Good Shepherd.
