OK - hold yer horses! I didnt forget anybody. But if I made a complete list..........there would be virtually nobody left!
The comment made by the late Fr. Malachi Martin some 10 years ago was that there were perhaps only 4 bishops in the US who were "sound". But - be mindful that while he was chuckling as he made the comment......he was in earnest.
And one of them, Austin Vaughn, is now dead.
Once again - I invite all to look at lines of Episcopal consecration.......who was consecrated by whom......who the co-consecrators were.........and in turn to see whom each of these men later consecrated as a bishop.
The tentacles stretch everywhere..........
"what a tangled web we weive............."
How about the coverup artists in general--about two-thirds of all the hierarchy in the American Church who spent three decades scratching their heads trying to figure out why it was wrong for grown men to bugger tens of thousands of altar boys? One "spiritual shepherd" even wrote a letter of recommendation for an otherwise sterling priest who just happened to rape a four-year-old in what the good cardinal apparently considered a minor moral slipup. The good prelate just didn't realize, he had no inkling, you see--no expert was available to tell him any continuance of this was wrong--despite failure after failure for twenty and thirty years. Nice lot--most approved and promoted by the "saintly" John Paul--and defended by him tooth and nail in a Vatican coverup all its very own.
He also implied that there was one saintly bishop in the US, do you know who he meant?
Honestly, I am not really sure to whom he was referring to.
"Didn't you get the memo? Everything has to be new and innovative to relevant."
.... and either a product of JPII's inventive mind or his avant-garde bishops.
If Aramaic was good enough for Jesus, it oughta be good enough for us!
Because then they'd have nothing to complain about and they'd have to turn the angry eye inward.
You don't understand the nature of corrupt institutions. All healthy institutions are comprised of some noble souls, some corrupt souls, and a majority of tag-alongs who never stick their necks out. It is the noble souls who keep the corrupt in line. When they disappear, the corrupt take over--and the whole institution grows corrupt. That is the state of the American Church. It is now wholly corrupt. Not that every bishop is personally corrupt--but the institution as a whole has grown corrupt because no bishop is brave enough or honorable enough to speak out against the prevailing corruption.
