The heart of Republicans may belong to economics, but its soul belongs to the Judeo-Christian concept of right-and-wrong.

Here's the letter to the editor I submitted to the Fresno Bee. I guess you'll REALLY barf over this one. What is it - too real for you? Here's my letter which I hope they print:

Pro life, pro family, conservative Republicans are becoming a rare commodity in the Valley these days. State Senator Poochigian endorsed Mike Villines for Assembly District 29. Villines has pro choice ex-Governor (and campaign consultant to Arnold Schwarzenegger), Pete Wilson, stumping and raising money for him. Meanwhile, Bill Jones and Mike Der Manouel Jr. are backing pro choice Schwarzenegger for Governor and telling pro life Republican Tom McClintock to go jump in a lake.

Then we have Schwarzenegger calling those of us who support Proposition 54 (racial privacy initiative) "right wing crazies". Adding insult to injury, Schwarzenegger refuses to sign the Marriage Protection Pledge (marriage is between a man and a woman), thus further alienating pro family conservative Republicans. McClintock, by the way, is the only one of the leading contenders who has signed the Marriage Protection Pledge. And Schwarzenegger continues to surround himself with liberal-to-moderate movers and shakers, both Democrat and Republican, some of whom think we don't pay enough taxes.

So let's see if I can get this straight. A few elitist Valley Republicans who used to be staunch conservatives are now aiding and abetting the candidates and causes they used to rail against. It's downright embarrassing. If you're a true blue conservative Republican, you wouldn't even consider voting for the big hunk star. For tried and true conservatives, it's a no brainer: Tom McClintock for Governor.

Sincerely,
Saundra Duffy-Hawkins

Right, vote for someone who won't be elected. Throw your vote away. Why bother to vote at all?

I haven't heard anyone in my day to day life say they are voting for Arnold. People who talk to me about the recall bring up one name consistently: McClintock. The buzz is about him, not Arnold.

I will not be throwing my vote away when I cast it for McClintock. If I voted for Schwarzenegger, I couldn't sleep at night. Go, McClintock! www.helptom.com

DoughtyOne just had a come-to-Jesus meeting with all the Tom haters on another thread. It was like a spiritual revival - against Tom. They are all pumped so I am sure you will be hearing from them shortly. Most of the Tom supporters are laying low - the self-appointed Arnold Gestapo Goons have made all the threads very boring and repetitive. Just thought I'd give you a heads up.

But you are right, it's a great letter so I'm going to give it a big McClintock Bump!!!

And you can sleep at night knowing that you are helping to elect Cruz Bustamonte? I am sorry, but it is obvious that that is the intent of the so called McClinton supporters. It makes no sense to continue with the charade after the facts that came out last week.

I don't like the letter. Pubbies bashing other Pubbies because they put too much weight on economics or social issues, or visa versa, is a loser's game. Both wings of the party have to work together, and work out compromises, or the party might as well close up shop. The Arnold versus McClintock bashing is a bit out of hand. I say, just let folks vote their consciences and be done with it. Most are perfectly capable of parsing the consequences of their actions.

I agree! And I dare say folks are coming over to McClintock in droves with each passing day as Arnold and his people keep spitting in our faces. Thanks for your post. www.helptom.com

I would much rather see Bustamante elected than Schwarzenkennedy. Bustamante will UNITE Republicans. Schwarzenkennedy WILL DESTROY THE CA REPUBLICAN PARTY, just as RINO Pete Wilson did. Go, McClintock! www.helptom.com

You support Bustamante over Schwarzenegger? Congratulations! You're a Democrat.

What, you now have an all-seeing crystal ball? Tea leaves? Stirring rat bones??? What is it, that makes you so certain, without a single molecule of fact to support you?

Women's intuition???
