as long as my vices harm only myself and other willing participants, why would you care?I don't care what you do.
Do you support laws that punish him for what he does?

I thought all of you folks were concerned about the health risks of smoking cannabis. Through these silly attacks on bongs, aren't you concerned that we could be losing the mitigation on health effects that smoking with a bong provides? Or are your health concerns just a ruse?

drug bans, gun bans, restrictions on liberty here, destruction of our Constitution there... The only common thread is statists and socialists, hell bent on power and control.
I hate to say it, but I hope something serious happens, and soon. This continued attack on our Liberties, and the erosion of our Constitution, must end as soon as possible.

ok. Hey, I still say that you all are missing my point!! The WoD is contradictory, I know this! And I can understand what TChong's motivations were. In my personal view, it's not something I would have done, but I can't say I would condemn the guy for it. In a very real way, he's doing the right thing by taking the lumps. If I were him, I'd try like blazes for probation. He would most likely receive it.
I'm glad you got off on gettin' back at the MAN, but dude, lay off of me on this. I only know that bongs are for doing drugs, which IS illegal. Should it be illegal? Hell, I don't know, but I'm not debating that.

Yep, I stumbled on to the hookah cafe phenomenon back when the latest paraphernalia busts started going down. A company called "Hookah Brothers" is the biggest supplier to the cafes. They're based in LA too. Don't know how they can operate with impunity, unless its part of our Justice Depts' neverending quest to NOT offend Middle Easterners.

So, when he was marketing from his website, did he call it "The Chong Bong?"Our minds must be on the same wave length (see post 56).
Tommy's listed in the phone book here under Chong's Glass. I should drive by there and see if it's boarded up. I could glue a pack of Zig-Zags to the door.

The point is, our tax dollars are wasted on law enforcement spending time on the penny-ante $hit that harms no one while they cry lack of manpower to solve real crime. The DEA or what ever alphabet agency that decided to conduct this investigation have their priorities all F-ed up! Is this all these people have to do?
Bush ought to tell the DEA to quit chasing G-damn pot pipes on the internet and get their asses on the border to help the INS stop the hundreds of thousands of people that are entering our country illegally, creating nationwide fraud and chaos.
I wonder how much of our tax money went into this stupid ass investigation. I bet they spent $800,000 of our tax dollars over this bull shet. And now they are going to house and feed this guy for 9 months?
The joke is on us.

What "you folks" you taling to? This "folks" says that I don't agree with smoking dope, and it is my right to not agree with the practice.
If the law against it is unconstitutional, then keep trying to get it changed. It's that simple.
Don't lump me in with some "folks" just because I don't see things EXACTLY as you do.

You win! Skimmed to see if anyone had beat me too it, but obviously too fast and light.
It's a wonder neither of those guys did time before this, considering everything.
To: Wolfie
Some child molesters will probably spend less time in the slam than a totally peaceful guy who likes to make glass pipes.
If we keep this up, perhaps the Islamists won't hate us anymore. Maybe that's the plan.

It is you who is missing the point. The law IS unconstitutional (they needed an amendment for the first prohibition) and moreso, an immoral law.
You do not understand the difference between "illegal" and "criminal". That's OK, I will take a few seconds to explain it to you real fast, it's easy to understand.
A "crime" is an action which initiates force or fraud. Examples of "crimes" are rape, assault, theft, murder, drunk driving (that is fraudulently using public roads!), insurance scams, violating terms of a contract, etc.
Something can be "illegal" while not being "criminal". Examples include growing/possessing/smoking marijuana (or other drugs), owning an unregistered handgun, owning a banned "evil assault rifle", etc. These acts are not crimes, you are not initiating force or fraud on another person.
I hope this helps. Maybe you SHOULD be debating whether or not drugs should be illegal.

Chong was selling flower vases with articles affixed to it for smoking --- whatever; Marijuana, tobacco, powdered laundry detergent, wood shavings, dried lemon peels. God knows what people do with what he sells.
If there's no residue of controlled substances in the wares he sells, it shouldn't be illegal. Surely the intent was to sell marijuana smoking tools, but *Intent* laws are bullcrap, and you know it.
If I am a farmer selling cucumbers over the web, and it gets in the hands of some old spinster -- am I really selling sexual devices if she uses it in that manner, or does it somehow change things if I package them as having some sexual and erotic connotations to them? They're still just cucumbers, no matter how they're marketed.
You have some thinking to do before you are so eager to throw fellow Americans in jail.
