Several years ago, I rented a house from a Jordanian couple (not Muslim). My now-ex-wife hated the husband. She would call to have something fixed, etc., and he would tell her "Have your husband call me, I will only speak to him about these matters." When she asked him why, he would reply "because you are the woman. I do not deal with the woman."
My ex is one of those Clinton-voting NPR listeners, and this guy regularly drove her to apoplexy. Heh!
