I couldn't begin to tell you what FR has done for me and meant to me. However, a few years ago I wrote an essay titled
The Story of a FReeper Chapter that should explain everything.

I met a wife and two girlfriends, one current. Not the wife.
I got a job from knowing someone here, and may be helping "co-found" a business.
Free Republic has made me laugh. Free Republic has made me cry. Free Republic has made me swat at the imaginary monkeys in imaginary planes that cicrle my head trying to shoot down the imaginary King Kong climbing up my right ear.

"Free Repiblic" provides me with almost continuous spelling and grammar feedback in every one of my posts. ;-) If I make an error, especially in a headline of a vanity, I hear about it!

Some Freeper sent me a bolt for my lawn mower.
Seriously.
I casually mentioned on another thread a few months back that a bolt came out of my lawn mower. This Freeper told me to Freep mail him my address and a few days later, the bolt arrived in the mail. He never responded to me on Freep mail so I never found out who he was and I was never able to thank him.

Freerepublic kept me sane during the Clinton reign.
I have met and conversed with people all over the world
that I would never have come in contact with otherwise.
Freerepublic has taught me HTML, and the most valuable
lesson to know when NOT to post a reply.
Thank JimRob, it's been swell.
Laz, than you for all YOU have been.

FR has kept me sane! Living in the liberal armpit of Missouri, I now have an alternative to the local media and folks who believe in the things I do.

It has shown me the deficiencies of the American public school system in such matters as spelling.

I am very much and proud to have Free Republic for my friend, because Free Republic always washes my socks for me. And my shoes. And even the streets I walk on. I think everybody should do their laundry at Free Republic.

FR's been there when I needed it for breaking news.
September 11, 2001 I was cubicle bound when I heard a co-worker mention that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. Throughout the morning I tried all the major news websites but they were jammed solid. I went to FreeRepbulic and got up to the minute reports from the great FReepers here.

Free Republic taught me that I wasn't the only one who wasn't "over" 9/11. I don't ever *want* to be "over it", and there are so many people here who feel the same way.
I've also found some here who share my deep feelings for Dubya. FR is a welcome site for someone living in a liberal town.

I suppose that FR.com showed me that even though I am from Massachusetts, I am not alone. There have been times when I have wondered why I was so different from many of my neighbors.
I like FR.com because it confirms for me what I have believed and known for a long time. That is, liberalism is an abomination, and it is by and large completely contrary to all that this Nation was founded upon.
The Dems, and the Libs are the very people who the Founders warned us about. We must persevere over them, in order that this Nation, of the people, by the people, and for the people, will not perish from the face of the Earth.
