Dvorak is such a nut.

Exactly. Obviously those taking it so seriously aren't geeks familar with his sense of humor.

Been reading Dvorak for years...he's not serious, just disgusted. Microsoft really needs to do a better job of preventing the average computer user from shooting themselves in the foot.

I'll definitely agree with that, but it wasn't so much Win95 as simply more homes with computers, and more cities with POPs.
I belonged to the original web ring, when it was only the one ring.
One of the things I miss the most is being able to do an actual text search. Surfing just seemed altogether more interesting.

One could argue that, by providing a 'hostile environment', the worm-and-virus writers are doing at least a little to help improve OS and net software.

It was said at MIT that the first 3 months of phone service were free because that's how long it took the telcos to figure out the latest dodge the kids dreamed up to avoid charges.

Eventually, by a sort of darwinian selection, even MS code could be tightened up by this sort of attack. Think of it as "genetic optimization" via environmental stress. Hormesis.

Is he aware the criminals don't license their guns? Why would they bother to license their computers? They hack accounts and use other peoples' computer accounts and credit cards.

Won't solve a thing. It would give the g'vment more control. It would give commercial companies more control.

It would also give goverments the power to tax internet use (for the license fee).
