My original response on this thread was to a poster who thought syringes should be sold over the counter w/o prescription. The rest of my comments were addressed, mainly, to a poster who wanted to know why I opposed to legalizing drugs. That's where all the issues about taxation, social programs, etc came from.

When drugs are legalized you just know the Feds, States, Counties will take over the needle exchange programs; employ tens of thousands of people; and will accomplish absolutely zip, zero, zilch, nada, nichts, nothing except enlarge government at our expense.
