Red vs Blue States from 2000 Election, Who is in Trouble?

Let me see if there is a trend here. California, New York and Illinois all went for Gore and they have record deficits.

Let's see the democrats controlled congress for about 50 years and the feds ran deficits all that time.

Could it be that democrats know how to spend money even when they do not have any?

Why are Republican states red now? We used to be blue. I always linked the red decomcratic states with communism. Blue is a more respectable color on all accounts (Roxanne....you don't have to put on the blue light.)

I think that it has been blue=incumbent, red=challenger. The red state/blue state term didn't become popular until the 2000 election.

We have fallen into a recession, actually it is Clinton's recession which is responsible for all these deficits.

You honestly trust democrats to spend your money?

My thoughts exactly - but we have always been red. That may be because it came out in USAToday - didn't it?

I totally agree. I grew up thinking pubbies were "true blue" and Communists and their lessor brothers the Democrats, were red. I suppose the news media changed it. But some channels had it right, if I recall correctly.

{Let me see if there is a trend here...New York and Illinois all went for Gore and they have record deficits.}

Currently, New York has a GOP Governor and GOP State Senate. Illinois, from 1998-2002, had a GOP Governor and GOP State Senate. During the late 1990's, both Republican and RAT Governors went on a spending spree.

I agree that most politicians can not be trusted to poop on your carpet when given the chance but demoncraps should not even be allowed in the house.

We have Marky-Mark Warner, D-VA for our Governor.

He's an billionaire Edwards clone with Kennedy hair and a Kerry chin. His body is kind of like Kucinich and he talks like Sharpton, points like Mosley-Braun. He also runs a deficit.

We'd give him away, but I don't think the democrats are finished creating him from leftover parts yet.

Yes, you are right. The Red/Blue map of the 2000 election first appeared in USA Today, and their explanation was that the DemocRATs were the incumbent party, therefore they would be blue, and the Republicans were the challengers and would be red.

Therefore, in the 2004 election, the DemocRATs will be the Reds.

Unless Liberal Media News Bias causes a change in the "rules"--nah, that just couldn't happen...
