Prayer Request for A Tiny Baby (Update in post #12850)
Myself | 8-11-03 | Brad's Gramma

Posted on 08/11/2003 12:57:30 PM PDT by Brad’s Gramma

If you will, please remember this tiny baby in your prayers. He’s the grandson of a very dear friend of mine. Logan was born on July 25. His due date was in October, making his mommy 26 weeks along, being born 3 months and 3 days early.

Logan was 1 lb 9.4 oz when he was born and is now weighing, as of this morning, 1 lb. 8.3 oz. The little guy is now 12-1/2” long.

He’s a real trooper and is fighting with all his little body can fight with. His Grandma said that he’s starting to recognize his mommy when she comes in the room and hears her voice. She said he tries so hard to open his eyes, and starts kicking his feet.

I asked my friend if there were any specific prayers, other than the obvious…and this is her reply…” A prayer of thanks for the miracle called "Logan.”

On a personal note, I’ve read the emails daily from my friend. I’ve known her for years, I’ve heard her talking about her family for years…but I’ve got to tell you that I’m SO impressed with how her children have all banded together in support. What an incredibly wonderful and loving family.

Father God, we lift up Logan’s little body to you. We pray that you can strengthen him hourly, daily, weekly, until he’s grown enough to go home with his precious family. We ask for guidance for the doctors and nurses who are caring for him. We ask for strength for his parents and extended family. Thank you so much for the gift of life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Fellow Freepers…….I bring you Logan!!!

Logan is still in my prayers, as well as you and his parents. I don't know how you all will manage all you have facing you, sleeping in shifts or how ever you handle the first few months, but you all are in my prayers for strength and protection.

This is really a day to praise God! MOsby's hsb coming home from Iraq, Ryan and Logan's news, in my own family, just received moments ago that 24 lymph nodes removed from my bro a few days ago (cancerous skin lesion removed a few weeks ago) were ALL clear, HURRAH!!!!!!!!!!!!, Thank YOU FATHER!!!! and the extremely happy news that FReeper Okies love Dubya 2 is expecting a child next year!!!

I am overwhelmed with thanksgiving to our Father!!!!!

What an awesome God we love!!! What a great Father!!!!

I will continue prayers for Logan and kinds sorta hope we can keep a connection going...Logan is a part of our lives!!! Regardless-I know a bunch of us will be keeping this miracle child in our hearts and prayers and his family as well...and MAYBE even Brad's gramma if she behaves herself...(I know, I know......no chance of that!... but we love her anyway!! hehe)

I didn't realize the bradys and dsats are still ongoing. Also, what specifically is wrong with Logan's lungs? Are they are immature, or is it something else? Is there any possibility that the heart valve will close on its own, or is he definitely facing surgery?

I'm starting to worry again. It sounds like they might be rushing him out of the hospital too soon. Can't they keep him at the hospital a little longer, at least until he can breathe on his own? And until he outgrows these episodes? How long will it take before he can breathe on his own - a few weeks?

How is he going to be monitored at home at night?

If I'm stressing out over all this, I imagine the family must be, too.

Prayers for Logan and for the whole family!!! Also, for his team of doctors. Please don't let them rush Logan out of the hospital too soon.

I'll remember that and follow you all over FR and stalk you and generally make your life miserable for that low down sneaky pete comment and oh boy you should QUAKE IN YOUR BOOTS (do you wear boots?)..heheYour post is WONDERFUL...SO FULL of good news!!! Whoo HOOOOO!!!!! You know what, Republic? I'm hoping too, that we can somehow keep this going for awhile.

I've never been through this myself but we can all imagine the time that this is going to take for Logan's family once he goes home...I'm sure the updates will be fewer. Maybe Texas Cowboy will still post pictures periodically???

You've all been wonderful on this thread. I feel like we're one big Logan Family here.

I don't have all the answers to your questions, I'm so sorry. I think in the last update I put up, the hospital has been delivering equipment for him to use at home. So THAT'S good.

And all we can do is trust that the hospital knows what they're doing...I'm SURE they do. Those doctors wouldn't do anything to harm him.

And also to Nana, Beth, and Bud.

I've been completely snowed under and haven't been able to drop by the thread lately. How wonderful to get back here and see all this good news!!! Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!!!!!

Though unable to read the thread or post, I have certainly had time to continue in prayer for Logan and the others lifted up on this thread.

Btw, we have a great-niece who was born with a similar problem with the valve in her heart. Surgery was a distinct possibility but it fixed itself by the time she was a few months old. She's now a teenager and has no problems at all ..... well, none related to the heart valve anyway. It is now ancient history.

I have one question for Nana, Beth, and Bud. Just where are you going to find a place large enough to entertain all of Logan's adopted aunts, uncles, and grandparents for his graduation party, his wedding reception, and such events? :-)

HE IS GETTING FAT CHEEKS!!! Some of that food is staying in! Mommy's milk is THE BEST! And life will be so sweet for him once he gets home. He will love to look around him and every day wake up to familiar sights.

My prayers follow him and all of you caring for him -- I know you will need your strength. May G-d heal all his special needs. What a darling little boy. How I would love to hold him. Sending a cyber caress to the Termite.

Sweet baby, how you've grown! What a joy you are to my heart, little one ~ I've been thinking of you lots these last several days. Many of your buddies have been over to be with another of God's children ~ Terri is her name. It may be that we soon won't be able to visit with her anymore and my heart will be sad, but you'll be leaving your roomies soon, and you'll be sad, too. So sadness comes to us all, precious one, but we try to do what we can to make less sadness in the world.

Heavenly Father, thank You for this life unfolding ... grant this little one and his family the beauty and joy of a home under the Lordship of Christ. Give wisdom and guidance as Logan steps into the world ... help us to make it a thing of beauty for him, and a joy forever ~ in the name of Jesus, I pray, Amen ...

Fly home little birdy..

There are few words for me to use to describe how beautiful I think you are Logan.

I have been saving some special advice, that I wanted to give your parents, for just the right moment. I think that time is finally here.

First of all my best defense for a fussy baby is a bath. I like lots of bubbles, for this you will need to stir your hands in the bath water vigioursly or get a shower head and hold it close to the water level making a huge stiff pile of bubbles to be blown around an dove into. Hide lots of little floating toys in the bubbles.

Secondly Blueberry pancakes are so good with banannas. Use a potato smasher to smash the bannanas and then add dry ingredients only. Use a fork to smoosh bannanas and dry stuff together, then add wet ingredients. Now every bite has a bit of bannana in it! I reccomend a good old fashioned cast iron skillet and butter to cook pancakes in.

Thirdly spend every moment you can snuggling in bed and playing in the blankets, these are the most precious moments I have ever had, my advice is never pass up the oppurtunity to do this. Most importantly , invest in good rain boots with handles at the top, Carters and Land's End have great boots for kids. Always jump in the puddles, but with your boots on only!

Always have a magnifying glass, a bottle of water ,and a package of peanut butter crackers in your purse. Always have a bowl of apples on your counter and always have chocolate chip cokie mix in your pantry. Get sheer white drape pannels for the spring , so when you open your window they billow in the breeze. Kids love to watch them gently move around.

Go to the movies once in your PJ's , let your child plant licorice, say yes whenever you can and no when you have to. It is okay to have pasta for breakfast. This is my recipe for a happy childhood.

I hope Logan and crew are going to have a great big welcome home party for themselves! God bless you Nana, Beth, Bud and Logan. Godspeed to you.

Best of Luck to you Beth and Bud, you are already amazing parents!

On the wings of a prayer I hope you are all carried home!

Great advice!

I haven't been around much, but Logan is always in my prayers. When are they planning to send him home?

As scary as it seems to bring home a baby who is so fragile...I'd imagine you get used to it, kinda. Within a week I'll bet alarms will be going off and you'll be very matter of fact while visitors are freaking out!

God bless you all. He'll help you remember what to do.

Well, folks, we've come a long way, haven't we? Together, hand in hand with our Lord.

NEVER in a million years would I have thought the day that I posted that first picture that this wonderful group of Freepers would rally around my friend's family. I am humbly in awe of each of you.

While we see SO MUCH BAD in this world, while we pray and pray and PRAY for all of God's children, we also see our own miracle called Logan. We see that prayer DOES work. We don't always like the answer, but in the end, we know that God has His hand in each of our lives.

Texas Cowboy, it's been my PRIVILEGE to have gotten to know you because of Logan. I can't thank you enough for all the work you've done with the pictures. And for being Nana's, Beth's, and LOGAN'S friend. Nana...what can I say? I'm SO PROUD OF ALL OF YOU I COULD BURST!!!

The Termite's gonna be just fine. Logan, my utmost prayer for you is for you to grow into a Godly man, serving your Lord and Savior. I pray that you will be a witness to ALL who come in contact with you. You've begun your life that way...I KNOW you're going to continue it that way.

To each of you who have posted, for your prayers, for your goofiness, for your faithfulness, for your passing Logan's name on to other prayer groups, for your advice....I thank you. Deeply and sincerely. God bless each and every one of you.

Logan....GO HOME!!!! :-)

LOL!
Thanks, BG! It's been my honor to have known and worked with you to keep the updates and pictures posted.

BOY! It's been quite a ride........so many peaks and valleys!
All I can see for Logan now is continued progress as he grows into a fine man sent on his way by the love and prayers of thousands of freepers.

Jesus said, "Ask and ye shall receive".
