Bush waives sanction on PLO office in Washington [terrorists have an office open in DC]

CRAWFORD, Texas - U.S. President George W. Bush on Thursday allowed the Palestinian Authority to maintain an office in Washington by waiving for another six months a law that would require it to be closed.

The law, which mandates the "downgrade in status of the PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) office in the United States," has been waived every six months since its passage.

"I hereby determine that it is in the national security interest of the United States to waive that sanction," Bush said in a written memorandum released in Crawford, Texas where he is spending a month-long working vacation.

U.S. Secretary of State Colin said Thursday that the cease-fire declared by Palestinian militant groups was not enough and that the Palestinian Authority must make a determined effort against terror organizations.

"We need to see a more concerted effort against the capacity for terrorist activity on the Palestinian side," Powell said. "It's not enough just to have a cease-fire."

Powell, however, noted that progress has been made in reducing attacks against Israelis.

"I hereby determine that it is in the national security interest of the United States to waive that sanction,"

So it is in our national security interest that we allow a terrorist organization called the Palestine Liberation Organization (est. 1964 to destroy Israel) to remain open in Washington DC? A terrorist organization responsible for carrying out terrorist attacks or harboring those who carried out terrorist attacks against Israel?(A total which is over 1200 Israelis since 1993, which includes 60+ Americans since 1967.)

A JDAM would be more effective. Even better if some representatives from CAIR were there too.

Seeing what Bush and the islamic US State Department has been putting out the last few weeks, I'm not surprised.

I'm moderately surprised they haven't been given an office in the White House.

This is one of the things I'am most critical about Bush with. The handcuffing of Isreal's right to fight terrorism and appeasing to the PLO (who have ties to terrorist)

Typical. You might factor in the reality that we are the main protectors of Israel in the region and if it wasn't for the US...our financial support and our continuous supply of military hardware...ISRAEL WOULD NOT EXIST!!!

Attempting to appear even-handed publically is part of the dance.

At least try to look beyond the obvious.

To add to the kabuki theatre, in order to marginalize Arafat we need to give the Palistinians the impression that PM Abbas, asnd only he, can gain concessions from Israel and Washington which will improve their lives.

They miss last week when one American a day was killed in Iraq. Now we're down to five or so a week.

Damn, I wish the arm-chair generals, the Democrats and the single agenda people would SHUT UP.

I beg to differ, Do some research on the 6 day war and tell me who was suppling weapons and armor Israel. We reeled Isreal in from Marching all the way to Damascus,Cairo,Amman and Beirut. Every war historian has not disputed the fact that Isreal by itself could have totally dismantled it's arab neighbors if the US and UN would not have halted them.
The majority of the Middle East could have been totally reshaped, maybe for the better. We started suppying Israel to counteract the massive Soviet influence in the region. But there might not have been a region if the 6 days would have been aloud to last longer.
