In Texas your vote in one (Rep.) or the other (dem.) primary is what registers you. So we are all free to vote in the dem primary. After you have voted in one parties primary you are not able to go vote in the other, but you do not have to vote for the same person in the general election that you voted for in the primary. I haven't decided who I will support or which primary I will vote in. heh

Same here in TN. You state your preference in the primary but the general election is open.

Nope. I think he will be the nominee. The dems have always been the "fringe" party. They appeal to the lunatic left and this is their man. It will be McGovern/Mondale/Dukakis redux.

All Bush has to do is pick out some really bad clips of Dean campaigning and run them on TV. It shouldn't be too difficult. Dean might carry a couple of states, maybe none at all.

You might be right, he may be the dim pick...but I don't think so...Hillary! could well be planning to use him to make herself look like a (fake) moderate....

If he wins the primary and makes it to the debates, watch him completely melt down under questioning. I saw him do this during his last gubernatorial race (I live in VT). He explodes under pressure - gets nasty and loses what little articulateness he has to begin with.

some states don't allow this, but in those which do...

There are time guidlines before elections where political party affiliation can be changed. It must vary from state to state. I'm gonna' be a Democrat (for the first time in my life) in time for the primary, and then switch back out before even leaving the voting place.

I want to make my contribution to the political process <^..^>

You're a delightfully cynical poster.

Keep it up! ;^)

Well, I would say "thanks" except that what looks like cynicism is more often just the simple truth when we're discussing what dims do, and why...;-D. I mean, just let your inner evil twin figure the most devious, deceitful, malicious and manipulative course to follow, and you have, voila! dim strategy.

I use to hate my inner evil twin, now I just use her like a rented mule. ;-D

Well let's see, he favors universal healthcare and a balanced budget. I think The Old Deluder would never have been that deracinated.

Ever hear Dean speak?
When he gets really excited, his voice breaks like a 14-year-old's, and he squeaks like a mouse.

You've got to laugh.

Q: What would you do to get the economy moving again? A: First, we need to do what Clinton did in 1993: We need to make a genuine effort to start to balance the budget to restore investor confidence. The second thing I would do is to support the small-business community. They create more jobs than large businesses do, and they don't move their jobs offshore. And if American taxpayers are going to invest in businesses with tax breaks, we ought to invest in businesses that stay here.

Complete and utter hogwash from Coward Dean.

Vermont was just recently listed as one of the WORST places in the US to start a small business:

No one has yet shown this to Dean's campaign, nor has anyone called him on it.

"He looks like John McCain with botox treatments."

In addition to quotes like this:

"When he gets really excited, his voice breaks like a 14-year-old's, and he squeaks like a mouse."
"he comes across as a mean, nasty, angry man, one who would physically abuse his wife"
"He looks like a mental case, and sounds like one too."

That's why I love reading Free Republic: conservatives give well-thought-out, reasoned arguments against Dean's positions and policies, rather than resorting to ad-hominem attacks like those dirty commie pinko bastard liberals do. [grin]

(And yes, I did read some of the posts that argue against his policies, and they make some points that are open to valid discussion.)

LOL!!! Fair enough - cynicism is merely realism when it comes to plumbing the motives of the Left.
