Hoffa disappeared from a restaurant in a Detroit suburb. Bay City is near Saginaw, almost 100 miles north of Detroit. If you take your left hand and make it into a mitten shape (with your thumb against your hand), Saginaw is about at the bottom of the curve between your thumb and the base of your index finger. Dtroit, meanwhile, is about where the second knuckle of your thumb is.

It makes some sense. Taking him up there would involve minimal risk of sightings (especially if he'd already been put in a barrel) but would get him well out of the initial Greater Detroit search ring.

O.K here's the whole story.

Robert Kennedy under orders from his brother John Kennedy attempts an assassination of Fidel Castro. The hit goes bad, and Castro vows revenge. Castro decides to take out JFK who he thinks also heads the mafia in his spare time. The mob takes offense at Castro for linking them to the Kennedy clan and make a deal with Jack Ruby and Lee harvey Oswald to set up sirhan sirhan at some future date for RFK's untimely death. The deal breaker is ousted teamsters leader Jimmy Hoffa when he spills the beans to Mcdonalds Big Mac secret sauce to the Jack in the Box clown. Ronald Mcdonald then makes another deal with Castro to off Jimmy Hoffa and bury him Al Capone's vault, the rest of the story is obvious, just fill in the missing pieces.

I interviewed someone recently who told me that Hoffa was taken from the Marcus Red Fox and then buried on a farm in Plymouth until the heat died down ( it never really died, did it). I forgot where he told me that the body was finally taken, but it wasn't Bay City.

You can take 275 to 96 to 23 to 75 to get up to Bay City.

The Hoffa thing has always been big around here. I used to live in Indian Village, 3 streets over from the Hoffas, and now in Grosse Pointe, where the mob has been huge. Many of the homes in Windmill Pointe have secret tunnels from mob house to mob house that were used during prohibition. The Toccos and Gaicallones are very prevalent around here and up in Macomb County and Wolvering County Club.
