Matlock

He didn't play Matlock. He played Roy Houston, Matlock "Matt" Houston's uncle in the show "Matt Houston."

Matlock was this whole other show with a different old guy in it :-)

He was a conservative, too.

He actively campaigned against "Miss Jane" Nancy Kulp about 22 years ago. She was running for some political office as a typical liberal feminazi, and old Buddy Stepped in, got on TV and convinced the voters to vote against her. She lost.

RIP Buddy, you gave all of us some hearty laughs and great memories.

Died at 95. What a long life as an actor too.

He was born Christian Rudolph Ebsen in Belleville, Ill., on April 2, 1908. His father owned a dancing school, where the nicknamed Buddy learned the fundamentals. The family moved to Orlando, Fla., when the boy was 10, and he began pre-medical studies at the University of Florida and Rollins College. But family financial problems forced him to leave school and, at 20, he decided to try his luck as a dancer in New York.

"I arrived in New York with $26.25 in my pocket and a letter of introduction to a friend of a friend's cousin," he recalled. "I got a job in a road company, but the producer said, `That boy one foot taller than the rest of 'em - out!'"

From what I've read, Buddy was a solid conservative.

When his "Beverly Hillbillies" costar Nancy Kulp, a left wing lesbian activist, ran for political office, Ebsen paid for TV time out of his own pocket to tell people not to vote for her.

How sad. One of my favorite actors.
Go rest high on that mountain, Buddy.

Brings back fond memories of youth as well as an era where the Walt Disney enterprise was not yet corrupted by modern day immorality.

He was the real thing, he'll be missed.

An actor, dancer, author and painter, all in all, a talented man.

Note that he didn't hate America or take up the rallying cry of "Free Mumia" or associate himself with any other cause de jour like the present day WhollyWeird crowd.

Rest in peace Buddy.
