REPUBLICANS PRESENT BILL TO GET U.S. OUT OF THE UN!
House of Representatives ^

Posted on 06/03/2003 5:39:36 PM PDT by sdk7x7

WorldNetDaily and CNSNews.com are currently running stories on a Congressman (http://www.cnsnews.com/Nation/Archive/200306/NAT20030602a.html) who is the only member of the House to fly the UN flag outside his office.

But get this... A NUMBER OF REPUBLICANS HAVE INTRODUCED LEGISTLATION, WITH 12 COSPONSORS, TO GET THE US OUT OF THE UNITED NATIONS!

Click the link to see the actual bill name, cosponsors, and any additional info.

It would be great if it passed the House. Of course it wouldn't pass the Senate but it would scare the absolute crap out of the UN and the European papers and bureaucrats would freak out. They wouldn't be able to just blame "that cowboy Bush" if the measure passed the US House.

The result would have a very positive impact all the way around even though it wouldn't pass the Senate...this time.

I'd love to see this happen, but it probably won't. The liberals would go ballistic. More practical would be simply keep cutting our financial support until the bureaucrats begin to starve.

There is something sadistically delightful about saying we belong to the UN then paying nothing...NOTHING...not even one red cent.

Many years ago I revered any with the CIB, but later I learned to limit my praise to Army service, and not automatically extend it to, for example, government.

I extend my praise to you beyond your Army service

This is an excellent development. Americans have been inculcated by the liberal media and educational institutions for 55 years about the "vital" role of the UN. Well, after the fiasco with the Iraq crisis, the UN must be very suspect in many people's minds. This resolution could be very useful in further exposing and de-ligitimizing the UN in the eyes of Americans. I would not expect support from the President and the administration at this stage. But the ground work is being laid for the dismantlement of this socialist abomination.

Holy cow. I find it interesting they waited until Dubya was "over there". Personally, President Bush probably finds the UN a farce but his hands are kind of tied at the moment.

Isn't Castro in charge of human rights at the UN now? That's rich.

Your probably correct. But wouldn't it be sweet if Bush put this up as a "TAX CUT" for the American economy?

Interesting... most of the members of Rep. Paul's Liberty Committee are not on the cosponsor list, even though the website says that the Committee backs the bill. Wonder why the others haven't signed on?

We would never leave. Why? We have a veto. If we leave, they get to run it as is.

What we should do is simply demand a more proportional financial representation and withhold anything beyond, and then veto everything.

This is very short sighted!!! We are going to get killed on this one. Once this bill dies a horrible death and get demonized in the press as a "kook" bill presented by "kooks" then the UN and it's allies will be emboldened. We will have gotten no where! From the looks of things you guys are having a blast running off to battle. We'll see how much fun you are having when you have set our cause back immeasurably. Good job guys.

Gee it'll be fun to send a letter to my Rep, Sam Farr, the guy with the UN flag at his office in DC and in Carmel. Yep, it'll be fun to ask him to support this bill. I'll get back another one of his insulting derogatory replies. Such a man of the people! Such a friend to the citizen! Such a loyal American !

This is the House.

Our House folks are pretty good. Delay is gung-ho about gutting the income tax and replacing it with the FairTax and is a co-sponsor of the Linder bill.

Unfortunately, we need a stronger group of tough conservatives in the Senate.....and a filibuster-proof majority. Unless some miracle happens and the economy next year makes the 90's look like the Great Depression, this is almost impossible. If the economy isn't tanking...basically if it stays pretty stable with some areas of growth and some areas of suckiness like we see now...I think we will be in good shape to keep the Presidency and perhaps increase our Senate numbers by a couple seats and gain a good number in the House. But, not enough to get this type of stuff through.

If I had my way there would not be one committee in Congress; everything would get debated and voted on the floor......with no filibusters allowed and that goes for when we are in the minority also. EVERY BILL DESERVES A VOTE. But, the committees largely do not serve a noble purpose; they serve to block bills. Many many bills do not get get out of there. Thus, we need a massive majority to enact any major changes.....committees will kill it otherwise.
