Correct me if I am wrong, but under Islamic Law, women are NOT permitted to drive a car. If she wants a driver's license, she is breaking Islamic Law. Some Muslim.
My conclusion: If she wants her driver's license, OFF WITH HER VEIL !!!

I'm almost sure cars are not in Islamic law. Saudi Arabia prohibits it. They certainly drive them over here. I see them all the time.

Following her 1997 conversion to Islam,
Sultaana Freeman (formerly Sandra Keller) was arrested in Decatur, Illinois for battering a foster child.
"Religion of peace." And, apparently, child abuse.

Cars may not be in Islamic law, but they may be in shar'ia law. IIRC, and I may be wrong here, shar'ia law is developed throughout time in response to the needs of society. So any given country's shar'ia law may be different from Koranic law, and from the shar'ia law of another Muslim country. If anyone knows differently, please correct me.

My conclusion: If she wants her driver's license, OFF WITH HER VEIL !!! The one angle I haven't heard the State of Florida bring up is that driving w/ that kind of veil cuts off her peripheral vision, making her a clear and present danger to her fellow floridans behind the wheel. They should make it illegal to drive like that. Afterall, if it's illegal to drive w/ a cell phone or a burger in your hand, it should be illegal to drive like that. I concur w/ you. If she wants to drive, she should take off that veil. Driving in a priviledge, not a right.

"Cars may not be in Islamic law, but they may be in shar'ia law. "
Actually, most muslim countries allow women to drive, except countries like Saudi Arabia, which force women to wear the kind of veil that Ms. Freeman wants to freedom to wear here.
Acutally part of Saudi Arabia's circular logic on this point is as follows.
1. Women must wear veils b/c of Sharia
2. Veils make it more dangerous for women to drive a car because they can reduce peripheral vision.
3. However, we will not allow women to leave their homes w/out the veil.
4. Therefor women can't drive.

Another angle to use is that a lot of places use your driver's license as an id. Want to cash a check? Let me see your license. Ditto for using a credit card (sometimes) or for getting into a bar.
How are these places supposed to guess that the person behind the ski mask (which is really looks like, a "veil" to me means slightly see through) is who they say they are?
What's a bank to do if she shows up with the mask on, and presents her masked id? Just hope to Allah that she is who she says she is?

I don't care if she wants to walk around with a grocery bag over her head, complete with little drawn on eyes, nose and mouth. She, however has NO RIGHT to be allowed the priviledge of operating a motor vehicle in this country as long as she refuses to be photographed without the mask on. The whole purpose of a picture ID is to verify that the person on the ID is in fact the person holding it. What kinda dip$hit moron would ask that the picture be taken while their face is covered. Why not such type in the space "PHOTO NOT AVAILABLE."
How stupid we've become that this vermin even gets the time of day with just a crazy demand. THEY SHOULD SIMPLY SEND HER HOME WITH NO LICENSE.
Also...Where I grew up, people who wore masks were BAD GUYS!!

I wouldn't be suprised if someone started up the new religion that prays to The Supreme Bankrobber and requires all members to wear ski masks, or the nylons if they're into fashion. What's to stop the state from saying no to this request, if she's able to wear her "veil"?

All these Muslim gals who come to this country have to have passports, don't they? Are they all photographed looking like this on their passports, in which case, what freaking use is the passport?
I don't understand how we can allow people in the country with this kind of a passport photo for ID.
Would the State Department issue a passport to someone with a bag on her head?

An article on CNN.com had the following summary on driving and ID photos in various Muslim countries:
"Drivers identification rules in Muslim nations:
Saudi Arabia: Women aren't allowed to drive
Iran: Women wear a traditional chador, which does not cover the face.
Egypt: Women do not cover their face in I.D. pictures
United Arab Emirates: Women do not cover their face in I.D. pictures
Oman: Women do not cover their face in I.D. pictures
Kuwait: Women do not cover their face in I.D. pictures
Qatar: Women do not cover their face in I.D. pictures
Bahrain: Women do not cover their face in I.D. pictures
Jordan: Women can drive if their faces are covered but do not cover their face in I.D. pictures"
In NONE of these countries are ID pictures done with the face covered. This, in the heartland of Islam.

Let her have her drivers license with the vail. However, let her know that if she is stopped for an infraction of the law she will be arrested until the police can ascertained who the "H___" she really is. (Which might take several hours or several days.

Even with the veil, she might have been detected, using face recognition software. One of the primary metrics they use, as I recall, is the distance between the eyes. It just would have taken a little longer, and she might have abused a few more children before being caught. What a creep.
