Chandra Levy's remains were laid to rest at Lakewood Memorial Park on Tuesday, in a private ceremony attended by family and investigators who still hope to solve her murder.

Funeral services held for Chandra Levy 05/28/2003
Associated Press
MODESTO, Calif. - Chandra Levy, the former intern whose disappearance ended the congressional career of Gary Condit, was buried Tuesday, more than a year after her remains were discovered in a Washington, D.C., park.
Levy was buried during a quiet service attended by about 50 people, said Kim Petersen, a family friend. The burial was not held until now because the medical examiner just released Levy's remains on Friday, said Judy Smith, a family spokeswoman.
Levy, who had worked for the U.S. Bureau of Prisons, was 24 years old when she disappeared in Washington on May 1, 2001. Her case drew national attention because of her relationship with Condit. The congressman, then 54 and married, reportedly told police that he and Levy were having an affair.
Police do not consider Condit a suspect in Levy's death, but the months of negative publicity was cited as the main cause of Condit's re-election defeat in the March 2002 primary.
Levy's remains were discovered on May 22, 2002. At the time, she was wearing clothes that suggested she was going jogging when she left her apartment.
But an FBI laboratory analysis of her clothing provided no clues about her killer's identity, and an autopsy of her remains indicated her skull was fractured but did not yield enough evidence to determine how she was killed.

Even though her parents most likely did not properly counsel her on her behavior, and perhaps encouraged it, they have paid paid paid. G-d help them, and keep them. She deserved justice.

Hopefully this can serve as a lesson to people. If you're in a relationship where you have to sneak around and be constantly afraid of being caught, then it's probably a relationship that you shouldn't be in.
The Levy's deserve justice and they sure didn't get it. I'm betting that Condit did it and he is such a scumbag that he doesn't feel the slightest remorse over this.

I blame the Washington DC Police for allowing the murderer of Chandra Levy to run free. They refused to question the most likely suspect and to honor him, the man with the apartment of the "inordinate semen".

"Levy's parents,...and her brother...read the Lord's prayer."
The Lord's Prayer?!?!? Why would they read this at a Jewish Funeral? Was this one of the "untraditional" touches? Isn't this whole family Jewish? Do they just like the Lord's prayer? I used to try and convince a Jewish friend of mine that it was OK for her to say that since it only refered to "God the Father" as we Christians say, and she could say it whether or not she believed in the divinity of Jesus Christ. She remained unconvinced by me. This mention in the article is a curious thing. I hope someone will answer my post and provide some clarification.
Poor Chandra, whatever her transgressions, certainly brutal murder was not an appropriate punishment for them. And, I may be wrong, but I really don't think Condit killed her, or had her killed either. Certainly the incompetence of the DC police is probably a factor, since the body wasn't found for so long. But this is a really good example of why it is called Murder, most foul.
RIP Chandra Levy.

"Police do not consider Condit a suspect in Levy's death..."Of course not. That's why the police twice searched his home, questioned him repeatedly and leaned on him for a lie-detector test -- because he was beyond suspicion. And who takes a road trip to a neighboring state just to toss a watch box in a McD's trash can? Why, everybody does. Just the other day, I went clear to Oregon to do the same thing. Gets me out of the house. Nothing suspicious about that.

I blame the Washington DC Police for allowing the murderer of Chandra Levy to run free. The Washington DC police are on record as saying that no woman in Washington DC needs to carry a handgun for self defense.

Gary and wife Carolyn are apparently living in Arizona. Carolyn's defamation suit against the tabloids (can't recall which one(s)) is set for a trial in the fall. Cadie and Chad are still in the Modesto area. Don't know what any of them are doing to make a buck nowadays.

Thanks for answering my post, but believe me, my frriend is not orthodox either. This is just really strange to me. In fact, I'm wondering if it is not an error in the piece. You know, I'm wondering if Jayson Blair hasn't gotten a new berth. I think they must mean some other prayer, or else, who knows...paging Pat Robertson!

Dr. Jonathan Arden, chief medical examiner in the nation's capital, concluded that Levy had been a homicide victim, but that the cause of death could not be determined."
I wonder how one concludes the former, without determining the latter?

I wonder how one concludes the former, without determining the latter? When they found her body, it was one YEAR after she was missing and likely she had been dead that long. The body was a skeleton. Soft tissue was long gone by then. I'm sure that makes a difference in forensics. They can determine holes in skulls, broken bones, etc., but how would they know if she was drowned, for instance ?
