A former live-in maid...........worked exclusively at (Zuckerman's) Fifth Avenue apartment - but had been paid by another of his publications, U.S. News & World Report. "She was paid by U.S. News & World Report, issued a U.S. News & World Report employee handbook and went through U.S. News & World Report's human resources department when she was applying for maternity leave," Zabell said. .......If the allegation is true, it could raise questions about possible co-mingling of corporate and personal funds. There might be a tax issue, said Ed Ketz, a Penn State accounting professor. "You need to have a division between the personal and the corporate." First, the NY Slimes. And now this. Can we ever these media types again (/sarcasm off)?

My goodness! The hits just keep a comin'!
Liz, on mornings like this, I am reminded of this passage:
The mills of God grind slowly, but they grind exceedingly fine.

A $75,000/yr. MAID???? And some of you are worried that teachers get paid too much at $40,000 for teaching your kids?
To: Liz
I have subscribed to U.S. News for a long time. Based on Zuckerman's long editorials, as well as the "Flame" ads and other items that appear in his magazine, I have often wondered if he is a top agent for Israel.
To: Liz
guests that included Sen. Hillary Clinton, former Vice President Al Gore No bias there. /sarcasm
I wonder what these elites would say if Brit Hume had a party for a couple of Republicans?

Thanks for the quote.......we needed to read that.
I am of the firm, unshakeable belief that no one escapes the consequences of
their actions. Consequences may come later rather than sooner, but they will come.

Just recently media libs were all over Roger Ailes of Fox for simply expressing an opinion to Pres Bush.

I don't read the mag, but Zuck's smarmy, smug pontifications on McLaughlin Group are really annoying.

I haven't forgotten about that exclusive dinner party with Gore and the ABC people, either.
By the way, it seems to me that the attack on Ailes was led by The New York Times.
To: Liz
He repaid the $75,000 to the U.S. News and DIDN'T take it as a deduction from his income tax?? What am I missing there?

I haven't forgotten about that exclusive dinner party with Gore and the ABC people, either. Ex-WashPot editor Ben Bradlee was a personal friend of JFK.
Late WP publisher Kay Graham routinely hosted presidents at her home.

A $75,000/yr. MAID???? And some of you are worried that teachers get paid too much at $40,000 for teaching your kids? It's called the free market. You get paid the going rate for what you do. Not what some central planner thinks your job is worth. I agree that the lawsuit is frivilous

"Everybody ought to have a maid.
Everybody ought to have a working girl,
A loyal and unshirking girl,
To putter about the house."
(Oh that was a funny movie -- but not nearly as funny as this!)

Everybody ought to have a maid.
Everybody ought to have a menial.
Who's pleasant and congenial,
To putter around the house!

To: kittymyrib
Probably $45000 of that was intended in an upfront verbal agreement to keep her mouth shut.
To: annieokie
So why did he fire her? Having a baby doesn't sound like a firing offense.
To: Liz
Story from the NY Post, I see. I wonder if the Daily News (or U.S. News) reported or will report this.
To: kcvl
They don't teach my kids. May I please have a refund? You deserve one.
I want one for the 3 years I spent in the Army while most Americans sat on their butts. My dad wants his 3 years, my grandfather 4, my father in law ............

My taxes didn't pay for the maid - that was a PRIVATE SECTOR position. Huge huge difference.
To: kcvl
Well, look how they tried to destroy Roger Ailes over his contact with Republicans only a couple of months ago.
To: kitkat
Well, I don't believe that.
Let's take a look-see at those expense reports for the last five years just to see what's going on.
To: Liz
Katherine Graham was also married to Florida Senator Bob Graham's brother.
Nothing to see here, folks, move it along.

"So why did he fire her? Having a baby doesn't sound like a firing offense."
I was halfway kidding when I stated that, but something does not sound right about the extremely high salary. More to it than meets the eye, IMO.
Having a baby should not be a firing offense, but it is possible and perhaps that is why she talked, up until then every thing was fine.
Reminds me of a joke, little boy about 12 years old never spoke a word. One day he came down to breakfast, mother put the food on the table for him, went back to her work, then she heard "the toast is burnt", she turned around and yelled "YOU CAN SPEAK"!!!, why haven't you ever said a word before. Little boy said, "Up until now everything has been fine."
