"The House version of the bill passed 285 to 140, said Faraday, but the Senate version hasn't been heard yet."
Huh?! Which bill just passed by that margin?? I thought Delay said it was DOA?

Senate Democrats Vow to Stop Gun Bill
JIM ABRAMS
Associated Press
WASHINGTON - Senate Democrats said Tuesday they would filibuster legislation, backed by the White House and the National Rifle Association, that would protect gun manufacturers and sellers from lawsuits arising from the criminal or unlawful use of their products.
Opponents "will do everything we can to stop this shameful piece of legislation from becoming law," said Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I.
The legislation passed the House last month on a 285-140 vote with nearly one-third of Democrats supporting it. The White House said in a statement the measure "would help prevent abuse of the legal system and help curb the growing problem of frivolous lawsuits in the United States."

Faraday said most of the gun manufacturers made similar changes to their designs, and that he wasn't aware of any business that would suffer if the ban weren't lifted as scheduled.Another example of why businesses don't care about regulations as long as they are applied equally across the board. In the end, the customer is screwed.

All the makers of military pattern rifles that I spoke to at the SHOT Show last February all made it apparent, however tacitly, that they would be more than happy to start producing their products once again with flash supressors, telestocks, etc., etc. These included Bushmaster, Colt, and HK.
You could see the dollar signs dancing in their eyes. God bless the free market!

But Bushmaster is less worried about an extension. "From our point of view, extending the ban is probably OK," Faraday said. What an incredibly ignorant thing to say. If the ban isn't sunsetted, the anti's will add every gun Bushmaster produces. They won't be in business six months after that.

This would definately bring the "pre-ban" firearms prices back into line.

YOur response to this quote may be a result of deliberate mis-information.
What's missing is the rest of the paragraph around that quotation--and the question the reporter asked which elicited that response.
My money says that the REST of the quote (or the question that was asked) would put a VERY different light on the answer printed in the article.

That may very well be but you never give ammo to your enemies.
I can imagine the uproar if Tom DeLay said something like that.
I also didn't include this one, simply because of the trashy way the article manipulated the quote:
"Of course we were opposed" to the ban initially,
Notice the word "initially" as though right now, they're comfortable with the ban. That quote is unfair and yellow journalism.
Just so you know, the way Bushmaster was able to expand their business was by offering a CMP model and then they offered at cost rifles to the Rifle Teams. Before that, the best on the market AR was the Armalite. Bushmaster has come a long way from being a distant third. It also helped that Colt changed the pin size that made installing an Upper Receiver a tiny bit confusing.
