I live in Lake Jackson, Texas. Our Republican group here held Tom DeLay's first fund raiser in the home of one of our members. They also have known the Bush family forever. The older ladies in our group think of "W" as a son. They adore him. One of them got invited to parties at the Gov. mansion when "W" was our gov. here. She also got great tickets from him for the inauguration. When he came to town, when he was running for gov., that same lady, Anne, who is my neighbor, picked "W" up at the local airport and took him to several meetings and events. At the time she was refusing to get glasses and was driving without them, and she NEEDED them. When I look back at that I SHUDDER! George #1 came from the Houston Republican group. I wish I had been involved in politics years ago, I could have met the Bush family. Everyone here who knows them LOVES them and respects them. Same with DeLay family. I do go help with Christmas cards in DeLay's local office in Houston area every year. Have gotten to know his daughter really well. Great families. We are so proud that we produced the Bushes, Kay Bailey Hutchinson, Tom DeLay, Phil Graham, Dick Armey.... don't ask us about LBJ. We are still quite sensitive about that one!!!!
