Scary! My landlord's daughter attends NR High school. Guess I'll be speaking with her by phone only!

She has the flu. How would she catch it in Toronto? Was she visiting emergency rooms and isolation wards?

Maybe a stupid question but....

Is this SARS any different than the Asian Flu?

Health Commissioner Joshua Lipsman said there should be no risk to other students, teachers or staff...

Well thats good news...I must have misunderstood everything I've read/seen/heard which classifies SARS as a communicable disease, right?

It is possible for someone to come in contact with a person who has an undiagnosed case of SARS. New Rochelle is right outside New York City and given thenumber of freshly ariving people every day from areas with active cases it is not necessarily a surprise that someone from such a town would contract a case of SARS. Remeber things like incubation periods could make otherwise healthy appearing people carriers of the virus.

I hope not! I just think Toronto has got all of their cases.

Uh, she could have borded a sealed tube, otherwise known as an airliner, when she traveled to and from Toronto and sucked down the bug while chowing down on airline almonds.....

Fly the infected skies.....

Fair enough. She could have caught it in New York or on an airliner. I just don't think she caught it in Toronto.

If I am up on the latest. They think people can have mild or not symptoms and yet still pass sars on. With it staying on a surface for 24 hours the person could have just touched the wrong thing at the wrong time and then rubbed their eye etc. But like I say at this point, who knows?

SARS isn't a flu at all, completely different virus.

Nothing to feel good about. I heard over 5,000 are now dead from this little bug.

Last thing I would do is jump on an airliner with 300 other people and breath their used air....

If I read the article correctly, she went back to school for a week after returning from Canada after spring break. That doesn't sound like good news to me.

It sounds like the school building she attended should be quarantined to me, but then, what do I know. I am just an old mom.
