Yes there are some individuals to seek out these dogs due to the false reputation ignorant individuals, such as yourself, give them. So when you get down to it you are part of the reason irresponsible owners want these dogs. Why don’t you do some research, actually figure out what you are talking about before you open your mouth.

Yet again: why don’t you do some research, actually figure out what you are talking about before you open your mouth.

Less than .0001% of these dogs are used for illegal or undesired practices.

Why do people with closed minds always open thier mouths?

When you loose that grade school mentality of yours, and are able to hold an educated conversation - then come back to this site, until then - please spare us from your ignorance! You said yourself that you have no knoweldge of the breed, then quit making uneducated comments like you know what you are talking about!

You say you know nothing - then you try to tell someone else they are wrong. Seak help! FAST! The hatred will only keep you down.

I must have missed the part of the article where the dogs bit anyone,

I must admit, in my entire life, if have never heard of a story in which these gentle beasts torn a child into small pieces.

Yet again: why don’t you do some research, actually figure out what you are talking about before you open your mouth.

Why don't you read more than just the first few paragraphs of the report. Here are some pieces from that same report you claim to have read:

1. To decrease the risk of dog bites, several communities have enacted BSL restrictions or bans. In general, these have focused on Pitbull-type dogs and Rottweilers. However, breeds responsible for human bites have varied over time.

2. Breed-Specific Ordinances raise several practical issues. For optimal enforcement, there would need to be an objective method of determining the breed of a particular dog. Pedigree analysis (a time-consuming and complicated effort) combined with DNA testing (also time-consuming and expensive) is the closest to an objective standard for conclusively identifying a dog’s breed.

3. The CDC does not advise BSL as a form of solving the problems of dog bites. Instead they advise the adoption and enforcement of vicious dog laws as well as stiffer fines and felony convictions for repeat offenders.

4. They also find it VERY important to recognize that most of the 52 million dogs in this country never bite or kill anyone.

Please tell me again how this supports your claims?

After contacting the CDC personally – They informed me that they do not record bites by breed to state what breeds are better than others, it is simply a method of recording numbers. They pointed out that most government agencies pull this information out of their reports – using it out of context to try and force Breed-Specific policies upon their communities.

They also informed me that their bite statistics come from telephone surveys. And that less than 5500 completed surveys were completed to make up the statistics in this report. In the same breath they pointed out that bite statistics solely depend upon the popularity at that time. There will always be a breed at the top of the list.

They also pointed out that dog bites from 1955 to current date have stayed virtually the same in number. Proving that this is not becoming an epidemic – but instead staying very constant. He did point out, however that any dog bite is a problem, but they just aren’t the problem the media is trying to make it out to be.

"odd sense of pride in having vicious dogs."

It's not pride. It's a big, a reeeeeeally big, inferiority complex.

Just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean it must die or bit gotten rid of. I know A LOT of individuals that out bully breeds that are responsible owners. If all you know is irresponsible owners with these dogs, you might want to rethink the individuals you associate with.

Yet again: if all you know is irresponsible owners with these dogs, you might want to rethink the individuals you associate with.

In 2001 Pomeranians were responsibe for more deaths that "Pit Bulls" (which is not a breed). What now - anyone that owns a Pomeranians is wishing death on children?

National Safty Council 2001 death by statistics:

Dog Bites 25
Other Mammals 65
Hornets Wasps & Bees 43
Exposure to Hot Tap Water 57
Struck by Lightning 44
Alchohol Poisioning 303
Suside 30622
Homiside 20308

American Medical Association: (deaths each year)

Parmacy Error 7000
Infection in Hospital 80000
Unnecessary Surgery 12000

Now, tell me; do you think all of these things should be done away with? Should it be a felony to have hot tap water in the house? Any one that takes someone to the hospital or buys a perscription a murderer or bad person? Look at the difference in deaths by people and dogs - people killed (themselves or others) 50905 more people than dogs did in 2001.

What now "Mr. I know everything"? I would ask if you were ready to admit you do not know what you are talking about but you're either too stupid or proud. (Probably a combonation of both). I am truly sorry you are so unhappy with yourself that you cannot stop hateing. It only eats at your self, it harmes no one else.

Many of us own these dogs because they are great dogs.

Yes there are some individuals to seek out these dogs due to the false reputation ignorant individuals, such as yourself, give them. So when you get down to it you are part of the reason irresponsible owners want these dogs.

Which brings us to the other reason people own these dogs, RESCUE!

If the dog is not intended for use as a weapon, why would any person ever choose a pit bull over another breed?

I won't speak for others, but I chose mine because pit bulls (Amstaffs) are calm, good with children, confident, they don't bark excessively, they don't drool, they don't shed (much), they don't require any special grooming, they don't chew up the furniture or shoes, they aren't hyper or require inordinate amounts of exercise, they don't smell, and they crave the bond of family.

Mine has a winning personality, and has become a favorite of the vets and vet techs he has visited. Of course, they may act that way for every pet, but it seems genuine enough to me.
