Two of the pilots who flew into the WTC, Atta en Al-Shehhi, were possibly prepared for their suicide-mission on September 11 2001 in the Al Fourqaan mosque in Eindhoven, a city in the Netherlands.

A AIVD (Dutch security service) spokesman confirms the investigation, that was published in The Wall Street Journal on Tuesday. The AIVD thinks it is too early to confirm the information published in the newspaper. 'We have the case under investigation', is the only thing the spokesman says.

The Al Fourqaan mosque, located in the Otterstraat, was earlier linked to training jihadwarrios. It is the first time the AIVD openly confirms to investigate this case.

Accoring to the American newspaper the two suicide pilots Mohammed Atta and Marwan Al-Shehhi, who belonged to an al-Qaeda cell in Hamburg - and responsible for the hijackings that lead to the destruction of the WTC in New York on September 11 2001 - had been in the mosque in Eindhoven for religious training

A direct link between the Al Fourqaan mosque and the al-Qaeda cell in Hamburg is not evident yet, according the AIVD. 'That far we are not willing to go yet'.

But it became evident that members of the cell in Hamburg did visit the mosque in Eindhoven: the in Hamburg convicted aid to Atta, Al Motassadeq, admitted during his trail that he and Essebar - another prominent member of the cell in Hamburg - visited the mosque in Eindhoven.

The Wall Street Journal claims that the Al Fourqaan mosque is an important religous training center for hundereds of islamic youths from all over Europe or who visitied. Of a number of moslims, who got involved with terrorism, was proven they took a course in Eindhoven. The American newspaper bases these claims on police reports and investigations in countries like Pakistan and Germany.

During the war in Afghanistan, two islamic teens from Woensel, a town near Eindhoven, traveled to Pakistan to fight against the Americans in Afghanistan. But they were refused to enter and they went to Kashmir instead, were they were shot dead by Indian border guard after trying to attack the partol with knives.

i keep a little mental checklist of all the mideastern researchers.

I guess they save all their tough talk about immigration control to US residents. The requirements for getting a European tourist visa for a US resident non-citizen are ridiculous.
