As printed in TV Guide:

CHEERS to fine journalism on (or near) the front lines. Of special note: news vet Peter Arnett on MSNBC, ABC's bright young up-and-comer Richard Engel and CNN medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta, who maintained his composure as he watched a frontline surgical unit operate on a critically injured Iraqi POW.

As posted on line today:

CHEERS to fine journalism on (or near) the front lines. Of special note: ABC's bright young up-and-comer Richard Engel and CNN medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta, who maintained his composure as he watched a frontline surgical unit operate on a critically injured Iraqi POW.

Yes - but not enough integrity to post him in the Jeers section!

It's amazing to me that mainstream journalism is so biased that a TV Guide can't even be published without this kind of anti-American leftwing crapola.

Good point.

It Seems that TV Guide was busy this week. They had an article comparing Hitler to Bush too. Click here

Please.

Those rocket scientists at TV Guide think "Will and Grace" is profound stuff.

Just one of the reasons I no longer subscribe. Besides, what's the point when the tv is on Fox all day, anyway? LOL

True. See post 7. I was livid when I read the comment from CBS executive producer, Ed Gernon in which he compares many Americans' acceptance of a war in Iraq to the fearful climate in post-World War I Germany, of which Hitler took advantage to become its ruler. He said, "It basically boils down to an entire nation gripped by fear, who ultimately chose to give up their civil rights and plunged the whole nation into war. I can't think of a better time to examine this history than now."

Perhaps the Guide went to print before the Arnett escapade? And then the line was missed in proofreading?

Arnett? What about their praise of Richard "Pretty Chicken" Engel? That's just as laughable.

I'm sure that is the case (or something like that). The real laugh is that the ever thought that Arnett deserved a Cheer.

Not really. They KNOW that the majority of the people who would object to or catch them giving Arnett such a stupid honor would read the online version of their magazine and NOT the print version. They just tried to outsmart us and failed yet again.

And the award for doing all the wrong things for all the right reasons (or is it the other way around?) is CNN's Eason Jordan who yesterday in the New York Times explained why his network has had a bureau in Havana, Cuba all these years...

People who write for TV Guide only know TV. The problem is that they don't know that they only know TV.

I am not sure why anyone still needs to subscribe to TV Guide to see what is on TV anymore -- havent they heard of newspapers and the internet? -- but out of curiosity I accessed the full web story of TVG's Cheers and Jeers.. and I have only one reaction:

Are they on the same planet as the rest of us??

Not one mention of Fox News... not one mention of Arnett's treason and not one mention of the brave embedded reporters from all networks who were traveling with Army and Marine units in the dash from Kuwait to Baghdad...

But they take time for a special "Cheer" to ABC for going ahead and televising the Ocsar Awards????

I mean, how can anyone take this amateur, leftist outfit seriously??

The lack of a mention for Fox News is actually is why I looked on line. I was going post that they forgot to mention Fox, then I noticed that the Arnett reference was remove from the on line version.

As noted previously. But, why would they ever note Arnett? He was discredited and disgraced years ago.

Arrgghh! It's "Pretty Chicken". For those who missed him, he's the dude who rehearsed his newscast lines live on the Baghdad Cam, whined and demanded retakes when his hair was mussed, wouldn't cross the Tigris River because "it's too dangerous on the other side", and complained of getting roughed up by a camerman. This is who TV Guide thinks is a good journalist??? Sheesh.

The print version was pressed and shipped prior to his idiotic interview stunt...

Just a case of poor timing on TV guides part from what I understand.

Let's not also forget that Pretty Chicken Engle spent much of the war in his hotel room, attached to an Iraqi minder... who during the Battle of Baghdad kept trying to pitch to Peter Jennings a report on the mean US soldiers blowing up journalists, then preceded to do a report, not on the battle, but on the journalists, and their candle light vigil for one another, all while primping his hair, not wearing a flak jacket for radio reports, but then tossing it on, to fake he was in imminent danger, when he was on tv.

Blah.

I must have missed this stuff, I work in a 'net-challened remote location 3 days and nights a week (but I'm at least going to have dial-up starting next week). I do have satellite TV up there, and I turned it on the other morning just as the miserable statue we hated so much became history.

I wondered what Pretty Chicken was doing once the hotel got shot up, he no doubt quivered and hid. Has anyone seen Baghdad Bob? I'm so far behind reading all the posts, but trying to catch up

TV Guide should have known that Arnett was an idiot long before his most recent stunt.

I stopped buying TV Guide over eight years ago because of their constant pro-left writing in their articles preceeding the TV listings.

TV GUIDE?

The epitome of cutting-edge journalism whose hard-hitting investigative reporting is without comparison?

That TV Guide?

Yea! TV Guide!
