The military wants her to keep the stuff confidential for the time being as they debrief her and also try to get info for possible war-crimes trials.

She may have seen some of her fellow troops executed while being taken captive and while being held. Also, any mistreatment to her by captors will be considered war crimes

Her surviving will be huge in busting Iraqis for war crimes. I hope the war crimes trials are done swiftly and quickly....tehn the Lynch's can all get back to normal

Deal with it. Free Republic has a fundraiser 4 times a year to pay expenses on this site. This site is a totally volunteer paying site. If you don't want to contribute, you don't have to.

Quite frankly, the one of Dasshole in the tutu is just too much for me. But I am not complaining about it.

Yes, I do in so far as anybody who has been here as long as you have HAS to know what that was.

You're just being contrary for whatever reason.

Well, I am not sure I agree with you, but it is better to be safe than sorry, so I am faced with two choices. One would be to can the whole idea, and one would be to take out the last line.

The former totally removes the possibility that someone would take the intention behind the post the wrong way, but also makes it so that the reminder to remember the troops doesn't get into the rotation at all. The latter keeps the reminder in the rotation, so it's the way I think I will with it. Thanks for your critiques.

I agree. I had one friend who survived Vietnam. Many years ago, I asked him how he felt about being there. He very succinctly told me that he had to go, he did what he did and managed to come back alive, and now, he never wanted to mention it again. Ever.

Some people deal with it that way, and we should respect that instead of letting any morbid or macabre side take us over for the sake of satisfying our own curiosity. That would be very poor manners.

The woman who drove two hours from Frankfurt to bring her a jewelry box -- I got a bit misty about that...

She may also have information on the other POW's. They need to be rescued as well (ASAP -- prayers...). I'm perfectly content not to know anything in order to get them back. When the time is right, we'll know what happened to all of them. Then again, the time may not be right for a long, long time.

I am thinking about it, I am furious. I have a 20 yr. old daughter. Thankfully the fedayeen are so ruthless we needn't be concerned any libruls will protest that killing them is cruel. Suits me just fine. They want to play that way, we just have to make double certain NONE of our people are taken prisoner. Fortunately that is getting easier.

My remark wasn't directed at folks on the board, I was just boiling when I heard the reporters questioning her family. "Could you tell us...?" They should have the decency not to ask.
