If three CIA assets were actually identified by Saddam's regime, they would certainly not be "executed". They would be kept alive and tortured until they were dead. And then they would simply never be seen or heard from again.
I do not believe this story.

Women ululatedDon't you just hate it when women do that?

If three CIA assets were actually identified by Saddam's regime, they would certainly not be "executed".Surely not. At least one of them would have had a family member who could be tortured until he was convinced to turn on the CIA.
Or maybe not. It's possible (and sometimes seems likely) that there isn't anyone in charge of Saddam's regime anymore. It could be just those few ministers we see and some desperate commanders "winging it". That could explain why so much of what we see is unpredictable.

Another administration official said that Saddam was "definitely alive" after the strike and appeared on Friday, March 21, wearing glasses because of concussive damage to the capillaries of his retinas. LOL! You cannot make this stuff up. Well, I suppose there is a fellow in the basement of the Pentagon whose job is doing precisely that.

Someone this evening asked me why would the Iraqis still be fighting if Saddam was dead. It made sense.

This is noise. To whom is it directed? Interesting question. Got any theories? Nick Danger's point about the three spies is interesting, but that's only part of the explanation.

This is noise. To whom is it directed? I don't believe that this story is true. Why would the U.S. release information that would only serve to discourage other Iraqis from helping us?
So assume that this story is not true, but that there was, in fact, an attempt on Saddam Hussein's command capabilities (and maybe on his life) at the start of the war. If this is correct, then this story is directed at Saddam himself. The purpose is to goad him, to needle him, to worry him, with the fact that he has a high-level mole that he has not caught.

FOX just reported - 2 of the informants executed immediately, one had his tongue cut out and left to die in his own blood.
The (Islamic) traitor who fragged his own U.S. troops will be treated much differently.

Fox really reported this? What was the source? I really didn't believe this was true.
To: DWPittelli
If someone in U.S. intelligence deliberately leaked this story, it being true and he not being authorized to leak it, then that person needs to be tried, or "terminated" in the field. Lets see, we have former and serving U.S. officials, sources, a former long-time CIA operative, one former senior CIA official, a senior administration official, one former senior agency covert operative, and its written by UPI.
And pigs fly.
