At least a half a dozen U.S. officials interviewed by UPI said that they believe that Saddam is wounded but still alive. "The strategy is to goad him to appear so that we can kill him," one former senior agency covert operative said. Uh, gee UPI, really?
This is a highly suspect report, IMHO...

I doubt this is true.

this story seems to represent a mosaic of the other reports which have been "leaked" since 3/19. the bottom line, saddam is alive, he is not "near death" from burst ear drums and bloodshot eyes. we are going to regret not ordering a strike hours later to target the medical personnel as they extracted him from the bunker.

sucks if true :( The Iraqis recently arrested and paraded on television three "spies" who were supposedly working for the U.S. Presumably these are the three who were killed. If you were the CIA, wouldn't you immediately say, "Yep, that was them" ? |

Pure unadulterated bull crap. Does anyone really believe the CIA publically verifies when another country captures and executes one of their assets?

The Washington Post had an article that said there were two agents who called in the strike and they got to safety.

"CIA assets"??
I'm tempted to entirely dismiss the credibility of this article based on the title alone.

I don't know but I can't see this info being given to UPI.

To: Sparky760
If so then I hope the murderers when caught are not given any mercy.
To: Theresa
these must have been the 3 guys shown on iraqi tv propaganda a few days after the war started for "helping the enemy". i felt bad for them when i saw them, knowing they would be tortured and killed.

Blood of Tyrants:
Pure unadulterated bull crap. Does anyone really believe the CIA publically verifies when another country captures and executes one of their assets? I believe (and hope) that you are right. If someone in U.S. intelligence deliberately leaked this story, it being true and he not being authorized to leak it, then that person needs to be tried, or "terminated" in the field.
To: Sparky760
...is also believed to have killed his son Qusay, 37,...This is the first I've heard that it was Qusay and not Uday who was killed.
That's really good news if true. Qusay was the chosen one to succeed the butcher of baghdad, Uday is too messed up from the assassination attempt. Hope this is true!
To: Blood of Tyrants
This is deliberate disinformation to discourage anyone from offering assistance to our forces.

Precisely. The "sources" leaked the story to UPI after Saddam's people killed the wrong three guys.
Or maybe the right three guys. Except that they weren't the most important three guys. They were just the one's who got made.
