Today March 26, 2003 is a shameful day for Arkansas. The House and Senate of the Banana Republik of Arkansas has formally endorsed COMMUNISM as its governmental form of choice.

AN ACT TO REPEAL OBSOLETE PROVISIONS OF THE ARKANSAS CODE CONCERNING THE COMMUNIST PARTY
What was the real reason this was passed? The Arkansas Legislators are Closed Mouth on this bill - refusing to answer the citizen's questions.
I have found WHY!
The U.S. Constitution guarantees Freedom of Speech and also guarantees the right to form political parties.
These Rights are guaranteed to our Citizens - NOT for a foerign power to come here and form a revolutionary committee or army to overthrow our way of life.
That is what this bill SPECIFICALLY will allow.
5-51-401. Definition. As used in this subchapter, unless the context otherwise requires, "Communist Party" means:
(1) The Communist Party of the United States; (2) The Communist Political Association; (3) The Communist Party of any state of the United States, of any foreign state, or any political or geographical subdivision of any foreign state; (4) Any section, subsidiary, branch, affiliate, or subdivision of any such association or party; or (5) Any organization which advocates or teaches the overthrow by force or violence or other unconstitutional means of the governments of the United States or the State of Arkansas.

They are doing this because the United States never outlawed those entities, and the Arkansas law was unenforceable, unconstitutional and uninforced. Arkansas now has just exactly the same laws about Communists that the United States Government has always had.

This isn't surprising at all. The state of Clinton comes thru for its native son.
IMO, Almost half of the elected US members of the Senate and House would support such a measure if allowed to put it to be forth for vote by their bodies.
The US is constantly under attack by enemies from bth without and within.
Nikita K. said it best.. " We will bury you." He just didn't provide a timeline, but with actions by protesters in the street and the halls of Congre$$, his prediction still has legs.
Arkansaw is just confirming the current status of Big RED's efforts.

No quite the same as US laws.
It is true that the bill as originally written was unconstitutional, but NOT by the whole.
Definition 5 of this bill:
Any organization which advocates or teaches the overthrow by force or violence or other unconstitutional means of the governments of the United States or the State of Arkansas.
By removing this wording from Arkansas Law, in effect makes this definition LEGAL. This is contradictory to U.S. Codes.
Do you want to go out there to Washington D.C. and publically form an army to overthrow our govt? How about inviting MEXICO to bring its troops (9000 on our border now) across the border to "encourage" communism?
Far-fetched?? I am starting to wonder.

Hey, you're right! We need to follow the wonderful example of Russia, and ban all those parties we don't care for.
If this keeps up, maybe when Democrats get control of your state again, they can also ban Republicans.
I never thought much of that stuff about "free speech" and "right of free association" anyway.

It is still a crime under Federal Law, which is where the case would be tried anyway. It is redundant law, just like an Arkansas law against counterfitting would be.

I guess you just HAVE to be in Arkansas to wonder about our legislators - remember - these are the same people who allow dead people to vote, allow democrats to vote as many times as you can be driven to the next polling booth.
There is legislation almost finshed both houses, that would, not exactly ban poll watchers, but if you try to challenge someone for a legal reason, you can be jailed. Also, now, on absentee ballots, you cannot challenge a vote simply becasue the voter has no ID, signed affidavit, etc.
They also have another VOTING BILL that will allow the local voting officials to open a poll location ANYWHERE they want to, while at the same time, NOT open the standard County Clerks Office voting location. What's scary here? It would depend on which backwater swamp or bar they set the booth at!
Let's see...oh yeah How about another bill being secretly pushed through both houses titled SB-969 THE ARKANSAS INTOLERABLE ACTS LAW Sound nice? It's BLANK! it is simply the Bill Number and a Title. They can pass it and add the text later after it's law!

You know democrats REFUSE to pass a law stating ENGLISH is the OFFICIAL LANGUAGE of the USA?
The same group of Arkansas democrat left-win radicals is trying to get a bill passed the SPANISH will be the FIRST FOREIGN LANGUAGE of Arkansas.

Watch what you say. The Rats tried very hard to ban Republicans by introducing HB 1218 in to the Arkansas Legislature. This bill, in its original form, would have made it possible to fine and/or imprison anyone, even poll challengers and watchers, who tried to prevent voting irregularities and outright election theft.
This bill was authored and directed at one courageous and indomitable individual who had the timerity to challenge voters who were brought in from as far away as Illinois to vote in Pine Bluff, Arkansas in the mid-term elections. Dissing the commies is peanuts compared to this.
