Actually, all he'd have to do is head one way on Dale Mabry and he'd hit I-275 or turn the other way and he could jump on the Crosstown Expressway, which would feed him onto I75 and I4. Not a bad location, if you need to travel quickly.

I live near Tampa and have some of the same fears you have about this new terrorist sighting. Remember how reports said Atta and his fellow terrorist visited strip clubs? The news said this guy was driving a red trans am (not a conservative car) and was seen a few miles from the Dale Mabry strip club area. I hope the police are checking out Tampa's underbelly. It fits a pattern that's weird, but it's one of the few patterns we have on them. Very twisted people.

Suspected terrorist may have been in Tampa

Tampa – After the FBI issued a be on the look out for a suspected terrorist from Florida, employees at a Tampa airport think they may have seen the man. Small airports around the state have been on the lookout for Adnan G El Shurijumah after the FBI said he has had flight training and could be part of a terrorist plot.

El Shurijumah lives in South Florida and security cameras at Vandenberg Airport in Tampa captured video of a man that apparently looks like him.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement says the Regional Domestic Task Force does have the security tapes and is examining them. While the task force hasn’t determined if the man on the tape is El Shurijumah, they want to find out who the man is and where he went after he came here.

Although the FBI says El Shurijuma is linked to a plot to set off a dirty bomb, his father says he has no idea why his son is being investigated.

El Shurijuma’s brother says he hasn’t lived in the United States for years. However the FBI says El Shurijuma was seen in South Florida last week. Now it is possible he was seen in Tampa as recently as this week.

A lot of people around here, at least folks I've talked to, have been blase about the risk of terrorism here, thinking that any attack would happen in NYC or DC again, or "out in Kalifornia". Then I remind them that 1) the Port of Tampa is one of the busiest on the eastern seaboard, and 2) CENTCOM is where this whole WOT is being co-ordinated from, and 3) the huge Pali/Muslim community around USF...you know, Al-Arian's buddies, the ones who almost caused a riot at the Student Union building with their 9-11 celebration. "Oh...hadn't thought about that..." is generally the reaction I get.

Now the President is coming here (Blair, too, I think), and this Saudi scumbag is spotted a few blocks from MacDill's main gate. Folks (not necessarily FReepers, but folks in general) in the Bay Area need to get their heads out of their back pockets.

Heard on WFLA radio this AM that he was also spotted over the weekend at some mall using a computer.

The guy who spotted him notified the FBI. They've evidently taken fingerprints at both places, but we need to catch the guy.
