The Rally for America - Chicagoland Chapter Style will be starting later this morning (11:30 AM CST).

Due to the efforts of TheRightGuy, RedWing9, chicagolady and other Chicagoland FReepers, this rally has attracted the attention of news media including local TV News, WYLL radio 1160 and WLS radio 890.

The participants will be phoning in their observations/comments from the site.

I just spoke to RW9 on the phone to tell him that the rally was on CNN and the reporter, although in excruciating pain, admitted that there were more people at the Pro-America than at the leftie sob fest!!!!

Rats! We missed that. There's been quite a bit of coverage on CLTV but we hadn't much of anything on the "majors".

I just saw you all on CLTV. You can sure tell which side the good guys are on, with all those American flags waving. I'm so proud of all of you and wish I could be there.

Please which was RedWing? CLTV covered this rally favorably, kept stressing we far outweighed the "Antis"...showed the DMZ cordoned off but the Antis and the Rally. I intend to call every news station and radio today and thank or yell at them depending how they treated us!!! Again, Chicago Freepers Yahoo!!! Can't wait for the reports!

CLTV just ran a piece on the rally showing the disproportionate turn-out for our guys. Of course they had to find one fairly heated confrontation between (I'm guessing) a Mom with a child in the service and a bunch of anti's. They then interviewed her, a couple more supporters and then one anti.

All in all, not too bad coverage.

Called 630-574-CLTV. The guy was very receptive and happy and I said I hope we see alot of coverage on it throughout
the day and a 'huge' report tonight. He himself was pleased someone called to thank him !

I didn't see RedWing9 in that last piece. They, CLTV, had been running an interview with him all morning but now that the rally is in full tilt they shifted the story to what you saw.

I'm not actually there - I'm manning the board so that the folks there can call in on-site info and then I post it immediately. You can always tell our guys - they're loud but orderly!

I called Metro News and spoke with Rachel Fuchelle (WLS news reader) about her NOON reference to "pro-war and anti-war rallies." I mentioned how CLTV and WLS's Steve Scott (at the rally) had interviewed organizers, who made it clear they were NOT pro-war, but pro-troops and pro-America. (I gently challenged her journalistic accuracy.)

At HALF PAST NOON, her report was closer to "one rally opposing the war and another supporting the troops."

Hats off to Metro News and Rachel Fuchelle. A teensy more fair & balanced.

GRRRRR Field Report:

OK, the rally has ended. The anti's are caged into one corner of the plaza surrounded by riot police. A bunch of suporters are standing there gawking at them like animals in a zoo.

As our crowd filed out of the area a large number of veterans and others stopped by to thank the FReepers for organizing the rally.

GRRRRR will post an After Action Report later with pictures.

I saw you guys...You ROCKED!!! It was such a contrast, seeing the happy faces cheering for our troops, lots of American flags and great signs...compared to the ugly, angry looking lefties across the street. You guys were awesome. I watched the newscaster on NBC read a few of the signs. One said "I'm so French, I hate myself" LOL!:) :)

Yep, it is fun - just got back from it myself. The Harleys made a lot of noise. The turnout of some Chicago area Iraqis in favor of liberation was particularly nice to see.
