And here are the Latin

Latin Lyrics O Fortuna,
velut luna
statu variabilis,
semper crescis
aut decrescis;
vita detestabilis
nunc obdurat
et tunc curat
ludo mentis aciem,
egestatem,
potestatem
dissolvit ut glaciem.
Sors immanis
et inanis,
rota tu volubilis,
status malus,
vana salus
semper dissolubilis,
obumbratum
et velatam
mihi quoque niteris,
nunc per ludum
dorsum nudum
fero tui sceleris.
Sors salutis
et virtutis
mihi nunc contraria,
est affectus
et defectus
semper in angaria;
hac in hora
sine mora
cordis pulsum tangite,
quod per sortem
sternit fortem
mecum omnes plangite.
English Lyrics
O Fortune,
changeable
as the moon.
you are always either improving
or deteriorating.
Detestable life
at one moment thwarts
and at another
mockingly indulges the mind's desire
melting away
both poverty and power
like ice.
Vain,
monstrous Fate,
you turning wheel
you can, when you will,
destroy bad circumstances
and delusive success alike.
Veiled
and shadowy,
you attack me too;
now at your whim
I bare my back
under your assault.
You, Fate, who dispose
health and strength
are now against me;
my desires
and my weakness
are in constant slavery.
At this hour
without delay
let all pluck the string;
let all lament with me
how the brave man
is crushed by Fate.

The Omen was my wife and my second date at old The Egyptian Theatre. I was such a scared wimp during the movie, it was almost our last.
"I love you Damien"

Au contraire -it's either "Victoria" by the Kinks or the "Theme From The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" performed by the Vienna Boy's Choir.

The oratorio Carmina Burana was billed as obscene once, but not anymore.

I always smile when I hear Hannity's introduction. The announcement: "Sean Hannity is on the air" immediately proceeds the words "mecum omnes plangite," "Everyone weep with me."
And they say Latin is useless.

I love that film. I wrote a song called "Guinnevere" once based solely on that scene in the movie where he first spies her atop the castle walls.
"I saw the castle walls were falling,
I heard the tortured voices calling,
from amidst the fire and blood,
and out of this confusion,
living, liquid, light, illusion,
I looked and there you stood."

The scene where Arthur is knighted while kneeling in the water always gives me goosebumps.

The one I am talking about sounds almost like the clouds will part and judgement day will begin any second. Funny that you should describe it that way. When Orff wrote this piece, he "disinherited" all of his earlier works.

Thanks for that! For some reason I always get this one and "Ride of the Valkyries" mixed up. I'm glad someone started this topic!
